Today, we buried my mom. I walked past my sister's husband just in time to hear him mutter: "Hope the fire's nice and hot down there, you old hag." I told my sister. She wouldn't believe me and accused me of trying to start drama. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Stop doing this
Today, my sister called me at work and told me our elderly mom had passed away. I dropped everything and rushed home, to find out she was fine, and that my sister was just pranking me. When I explained this to my boss, he accused me of lying to get out of work, and I was fired. FML
Too awkward to function
Today, my sister told me she doesn't think her mom died the way she was told. Uncomfortable, I declined to give my 2 cents on the matter, saying, "I'm sorry" and, "Oh sh!t, sorry." She started gaslighting me about how I wasn't listening, and I told her I was sorry for being a piece of shit, so she then gaslit me about that too. FML
Today, I was pestering a co-worker, so she jokingly stated "I'll bury you!" and I replied "I'll bury your mom!". Her moms funeral was last week. FML
Come on, dude…
Today, I was at my mom's funeral. My sisters and I were sitting in the front row. The funeral director, whom we had met with twice before, was going around greeting everyone. When she got to us, she asked where our mom was. Seriously? FML
Great family you've got there
Today, my wife, who recently had cancer, made an offhand comment that my 30-year-old sister took offense to. Instead of saying something, she went and called our parents. My dad then called and yelled at me for 5 minutes about it. FML
Intentional?
Today, I intentionally caused my parents to have an intensely heated argument when I asked them how and where they first met. Dad said it was at a funeral, and mom said it was at a burial. FML
Dead wrong
Today, I attended my husband's funeral and my son carried out the eulogy, which basically turned into a character assassination, ending with "and I hope Hell is hot enough for you, old man." Almost our entire family agreed with every word he said. FML
Today, my sister announced her pregnancy at my husband's funeral. FML
Today, my parents and I attended the funeral of my husband's mother. It was open-casket, and my parents went to take a look. My mum muttered, "With a dress that tacky, no wonder she died", and my dad chuckled. A fight quickly erupted, and the police were called. FML
Are you kidding me?
Today, my mom talked me into going to a funeral since my dad wouldn't go. It was for one of her classmates. When it was our time to view the casket, we paused in front of it for a second before my mom leans over to me and says, "What if I told you that was really your dad?" FML

Oh, it is! They got a real good heating guy who hooked them up with some sick insulation and temperature regulation controls! None of that cheap, cold fire you get in, like, purgatory.

So why did you tell your sister if not to cause drama? Why not tell him directly?
CoffeeChickBlows 13
You know, that's an insanely stupid thing to say in the first place. On top of that, you're asking it of someone who just buried their mom. I mean, you're a juggalo so you're probably on bad terms with your own parents, but seriously grow up.

Maybe your mom was a bitch to him and that comment was warranted?

Growing up my very religious parents said Jesus loves everyone, but your brother-in-law makes me doubt that

you were trying to start drama, that's why you told your sister. My sincere condolences to you and yours.

I agree. the sister has to already know her husband's feelings towards her mum
DoomedGemini 38
Or she wanted her to talk to him about it and how it's not okay?

It was inappropriate for him to say that so that you can hear it, but telling your sister right then was inappropriate also. I'm sorry for your loss, and I'm sorry he said something so cold in front of you. You both should have waited until a more appropriate time.

I'm so sorry about your mum but what did you really hope to accomplish? I'm sure your sister is aware of her husband's discontent with your deceased mother. I agree it wasn't respectful but maybe there's good reason for the hard feelings. telling your sister will only cause her extra anxiety during a time when no one needs it.

how do you know it's not justified? the woman could have been trying to break them up or bring an out right horrible in law to him.

People don't just say that about a nice person. Face it. Your mother was an awful human being.
