Today, we buried my mom. I walked past my sister's husband just in time to hear him mutter: "Hope the fire's nice and hot down there, you old hag." I told my sister. She wouldn't believe me and accused me of trying to start drama. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Stop doing this
Today, my sister called me at work and told me our elderly mom had passed away. I dropped everything and rushed home, to find out she was fine, and that my sister was just pranking me. When I explained this to my boss, he accused me of lying to get out of work, and I was fired. FML
Too awkward to function
Today, my sister told me she doesn't think her mom died the way she was told. Uncomfortable, I declined to give my 2 cents on the matter, saying, "I'm sorry" and, "Oh sh!t, sorry." She started gaslighting me about how I wasn't listening, and I told her I was sorry for being a piece of shit, so she then gaslit me about that too. FML
Today, I was pestering a co-worker, so she jokingly stated "I'll bury you!" and I replied "I'll bury your mom!". Her moms funeral was last week. FML
Come on, dude…
Today, I was at my mom's funeral. My sisters and I were sitting in the front row. The funeral director, whom we had met with twice before, was going around greeting everyone. When she got to us, she asked where our mom was. Seriously? FML
Great family you've got there
Today, my wife, who recently had cancer, made an offhand comment that my 30-year-old sister took offense to. Instead of saying something, she went and called our parents. My dad then called and yelled at me for 5 minutes about it. FML
Intentional?
Today, I intentionally caused my parents to have an intensely heated argument when I asked them how and where they first met. Dad said it was at a funeral, and mom said it was at a burial. FML
Dead wrong
Today, I attended my husband's funeral and my son carried out the eulogy, which basically turned into a character assassination, ending with "and I hope Hell is hot enough for you, old man." Almost our entire family agreed with every word he said. FML
Today, my sister announced her pregnancy at my husband's funeral. FML
Today, my parents and I attended the funeral of my husband's mother. It was open-casket, and my parents went to take a look. My mum muttered, "With a dress that tacky, no wonder she died", and my dad chuckled. A fight quickly erupted, and the police were called. FML
Are you kidding me?
Today, my mom talked me into going to a funeral since my dad wouldn't go. It was for one of her classmates. When it was our time to view the casket, we paused in front of it for a second before my mom leans over to me and says, "What if I told you that was really your dad?" FML

Oh, it is! They got a real good heating guy who hooked them up with some sick insulation and temperature regulation controls! None of that cheap, cold fire you get in, like, purgatory.

Well, they do have the best in the business down there. Hitler does know his gas and after losing in Russia knows the importance of needing to stay warm. Hell will not freeze over under his watch.

Especially since purgatory is mostly just running from vampires and shit.

It's times like this when I wish I could give your profile more than one ****.

You're a better person than me, OP. I would have punched him, forget telling my sister first. I'm sorry about your mother.

This is what it means to be heartless. Even if you have those kinds of thoughts, you shouldn't voice them, especially not around those who are mourning. I'm so sorry for your loss.

That's another reason always to have a voice recorder with you wherever you go. Also, really sorry about your mother i know how hard it can be..

What a tought! Even if the OP had such unusual habit, it is unlikely that anyone would go around on their mother funeral recording people, just in case they say something mean.

Most phones have a voice recorder so you can be extra inconspicuous whilst being weird. (:
Lalala579121 28
16 - Being on a phone at a funeral or burial isn't being inconspicuous, it's just being rude. And unless you're seriously paranoid you're not going to start recording and stick it in your pocket the entire time.

do you really think that the sister is so clueless that she doesn't know how her husband feels about her mum? my guess is she knows but wasn't wanting to hash it out with her sister.

I feel my sarcasm failed. *dramatic sobbing*

I'm sorry about your mum, son-in-law and mother-in-law relationships can be very tricky but even if there were bad feelings between them he should have kept his thoughts to himself. I know you probably had the best intentions, but what did you expect to gain from telling your sister? Especially while she's trying to deal with her grief too, it just seems it would've been best to wait until everyone's emotions were running a bit less high to raise your concerns about her insensitive husband.

Well said #9.

These are the most unfair and spiteful persons to know - they hold grudges forever. She's dead, let it go.
