Today, this guy and I went on a date to the movies. We got up to the desk and I asked for one ticket for 'Jennifer's Body.' The guy moved his way in front of me and said, "make that two tickets." He then walked away to look at movie posters and left me with the $22.50 charge. FML

Today, I went to the movies with my crush, who had asked me out on a date. Assuming he'd pay, I left my money at home. When the time came to buy the tickets, he only bought one for himself. FML

Today, I went to a movie with this guy. He was late so the only seats available were the ones in the very front which he refused to sit in. As we were looking for two seats, he spotted one near the back and sat down, leaving me to sit by myself in the front. FML
Today, I went on an a date with a guy I met online. We were waiting in line at Starbucks when he turned to me and said, "Do you want anything?" Just before I was about to answer, he practically shoved in front of me and paid for himself. The cashier looked more horrified than I did. FML
Today, while on my way to the movies, I stopped at a gas station to pick up candy so I could avoid the high prices at the movies. The guy who tore my ticket asked for my purse, confiscated my candy, and then kicked me out of the movie theater. That guy was my boyfriend. FML
Today, my boyfriend wanted to take me to a movie after days of not seeing me. This long-awaited date involved me paying for food and my movie ticket when he ran out of cash again. He then dumped me as we left the theater walking to his car. Yes, I financed my own breakup date. FML
Today, I went to the movies with my boyfriend. We went inside the theatre and he saw a couple of his friends. Instead of saying hi and coming back to watch the movie with me, he ditched me for them. When I reminded him he was forgetting something, he grabbed the popcorn out of my hands and left. FML
Today, I went to the cinema with a girl I like. Knowing she has a bit of a soft spot for me, I was keen to sit in the back row. Too bad her sister tagged along, insisted that we sit somewhere else, and scolded me every time I so much looked at her. I ended up paying for the unwanted guest as well. FML
Today, I went on a movie date with a guy. He brought his mom. FML
Today, I went to see a movie with 4 friends. I didn't realize that I was the only one who didn't have a date. The theater row had just enough room for everyone but me, I got to sit in back of everyone else while they were making out in front of me for 2 hours. FML

erm... am i missing something here. it's normal for the man to pay for both tickets without even asking. now we're living in an emancipated world. isn't it possible for you as well? though it's cheap of him to force you. seems he's not the best choice. i can't tell how often you've been invited to the movies by a guy. next time consider doing the same as well. guys can be happy about this, too.

I really hope people aren't going to make this a whole 'but guys are always expected to pay for both tickets - this is payback' thing...This would have been super rude even if OP was a guy. In these (what I hear are hard times in America) you think that people would just pay for their own tickets, dinners etc. on dates.

Thank you #47. Don't get me wrong. I love my double standards. I don't want to fight on the front lines, I don't buy a car often enough to care if the dealer addresses everything toward my husband, and I don't want to be the main bread winner. I understand that if my house is dirty, even if it's my husband's share, that people will blame me. I get that I'm the one blamed if my kid grows up to be a serial killer. I know I'm "at fault" if my kids only eat food from a microwave. It all evens out as far as I'm concerned. If the waiter is going to assume that my husband is ordering, he can go ahead and assume that he's paying as well. There ARE still double standards, though. Double. As in both.

I would never do taht to a girl I was dating, but I'm thinking this really isn't a big deal. You easily could have switched it back to one ticket. It sucks he was insensitive enough to just try and make you pay for him, but in the long run, it is just a movie ticket. Haha maybe he thought snacks were on him, and in that case chances are you were getting a bargain, they gouge you so bad for popcorn.drinks/candy, it worse than the tickets... lol... :P
