Today, a guy who I was low-key crushing on asked me out. I excitedly told my best friend, as I do when I have big news. She informed me that the same guy asked her out 15 minutes ago. He'd originally been into her and only came to me because she rejected him. FML
Today, a guy I've liked for a while asked if he could talk to me during break. He'd never done that before, so I was excited and said yes. As soon as we both sat down, he asked if I'd help him get a date with my best friend. FML
Today, I wanted to ask out this cute girl I used to work with. Before I could, she said she likes my only friend there, and asked if could I set them up. Trying to be nice guy and good friend, I did. Then she made her complete lack of interest in me obvious. But hey, at least the gay guy she hung out with thought I was cute. FML
Today, I asked out this girl at work who I've had a crush on for a while. She looked oddly familiar, aside from the fact that we worked together. It was almost like we'd met outside of work. Two hours and one Snapchat story later, I realized I'd asked out my best friend's girlfriend. FML
Today, I confessed my feelings to the girl I like, who also happens to be my coworker. She told my boss, and they're laughing about it as I type this. FML
Today, I went to the movies with a girl I like, then we went to grab a bite afterwards. She spent most of the time telling me how much she dislikes my best friend because he hooked up with a new girl. I then found out the two had been "talking" for a while. FML
Today, the coworker I have a crush on left halfway through the busiest shift of the week, and now I have to work it alone. I eventually found out that she left to go on a date with her new boyfriend. FML
Today, after what I thought was several weeks of flirting with a coworker, I asked her out on a date. She asked if it could be a double date, and I said yes. I brought a friend, she brought her husband. FML

I'm sorry, but as much as OPs best friend is going to be vilified on here, if OP didn't make his feelings to HER as well as the friend known, then she's fair game. For all we know, BOTH the guys were feeling her, and so it came down to who asked her first. There are a whole host of reasons as to why things turned out this. Moral of the story is, if you're into a girl, TELL HER! For every girl you like, there are 7.2 guys waiting in the bushes, and there is one who is brave and will make a move, so pre-empt any of that shit and make your move.

It is for this reason that if I am interested in someone, I make sure to let the woman know as soon as possible so they don't get the impression that I just wanna be buddies or whatever. If the "best friend" already knew OP was interested in the girl, and still decided that it was best to conduct business in this manner, then that is a pretty bad sign.

Part of me thinks YDI for not acting on your feelings sooner, and feeling bad that someone else did. The other part of me thinks YLS as your friend obviously knows what they are doing will hurt you, otherwise you would of found out beforehand.

How childish are you? Because you like someone they have to be interested in you, too? Your 'best friend' is probably interested in her too, and maybe he's more her type. Either way, bros before hoes and you probably don't know as much about her as you seem to assume. And if you work together then ended up in a relationship it would spawn all sorts of problems down the road too.

As much as it may suck, everyone has the right to be able to date whoever they to. Your best friend may like her more than you do. Just because your friends, it doesn't mean you can hold someone back from a possible relationship because you have feelings for the other person. Obviously I don't know the circumstances, that's just my opinion on what's been told :)
