Today, on my first day at a new job, my boss asked how old I was. I replied, "Eighteen." She responded that she was my age thirty years ago, which makes her the same age as my mum. When I told her, she gave me a puzzled look, so I repeated myself. She was my age thirteen years ago, not thirty. FML

This is fine
Today, I started a new job. As I was introducing myself during the morning get together with the team, I forgot how old I was, and panicked. I ended up saying I was "twenty-fine." I’m 27. FML
Timeless
Today, while I was in a bathroom stall, I overheard my younger coworkers discussing my age. They said, “How old is she? Some days she looks like she's 35 and other days she looks like she's 58!” FML
Small talk hell
Today, I told my boss her new haircut made her look younger. She smiled and said, “Oh, thank you!” I tried to double down on the compliment and said, “Yeah, like... 20 years ago younger!” She stopped smiling. It turns out that would’ve made her twelve. FML
Today, a customer complimented me on how good I looked for my age. She thought I was in my forties. I'm 18. FML
Low blow
Today, while I was working, my friend stopped by and visited with me a moment. After she left, my client asked me if she was my daughter. My friend is 32 and I'm 27. FML
Today, I was at work refreshing the shelves when a man turned the corner and said, very surprised, "You look 12!" A few weeks back, two people did the same thing, only they said I looked 9. I'm almost 21 years old, and just very short. Starting to get just a little self conscious here. FML
Today, the new guy at work - who is probably at least ten years older than I am - admired the photo on my desk of myself with my husband and teenage daughters and asked, "Are those your grandchildren?" I'm in my 40's. FML
Shorty
Today, I was mistaken for an 8th grader because of my height. I'm 32 years-old. FML
Today, my parents told me about how they met. I'd already known they were eight years apart, but I never knew my dad started dating my mom when he was 21 and she was 13. FML

I don't see how this is worded wrong. And I'm usually someone who uses proper grammar.

I STILL don't get it and have thoroughly read this at least 10 times. what I get from it is this: she asked his age. he said 18. she was his age 30 years ago which would make ger the same age as his mum. (what's wrong with that...?) and so he repeated himself and now she 13 year older so now she's 31? and his mum is 1...

Sounds like a ****** up Professor Layton puzzle.

PS It's not that hard to figure out. It's worded pretty good. If you didn't understand this, go buy "Professor Layton and the Curious Viallage."

It took me forever to get what you were saying. I had to read multiple comment explanations, why couldn't you just start a new sentence..?

Okay here is a dialogue of the conversation to help understand this one better: Boss: How old are you? OP: 18. Boss: Cool, I was your age 30 years ago. OP: Sweet you're the same age as my mom, she's 48 too. Boss: Excuse me? OP: Sweet you're the same age as my mom, she's 48 too? Boss: I didn't say 30 years ago...I said 13 years ago. You said I look older than I actually am. OP: Oh...

It's simple. He/she thought they heard: 18 + 30; which is 48. What was actually said was 18 + 13; which is 31. Hence, their mother would need to have been 13 when she gave birth; 31 - 18 = 13.

I think you guys are missing the point that the boss thought that her mom had her at age 13.
