Today, my longterm girlfriend and I broke up after 2 months of me not being myself, due to repressed memories of a childhood trauma. Prior to this coming up, I was about about ask her to marry me. FML

Today, my girlfriend has memory issues because of a car accident. She broke up with me because I was acting like if things were more serious that she wanted them to be. She forgot she proposed. FML

Well here we go again everyone! Just to make sure we're all on the same page, your SO and you should have already been talking about marriage. Why? Because MARRIAGE IS NOT A SURPRISE. ONLY THE PROPOSAL SHOULD BE! Now, not sure if OP had spoken to their long-term GF about marriage at all, and was about to propose out of nowhere. But if she was willing to marry before this info came out then she dumped you after during your troubled time, then you completely DODGED a bullet. If she was willing to leave you so easily before, I assure you she'd most likely have left after. And that's after the $$$ of marriage and paperwork. Then split of assets. Either way, I'm sorry OP. It sucks to lose someone you love. Please get help. For anyone else reliving trauma, get help right away! Anything to take care of your mind and body. Your spouse isn't a therapist or a doctor. They are human just like you and can only handle so much.

Honestly if that happened when my husband proposed years ago, I'd still say yes, just I'd also be doing in a fit of laugher. Gotta realize we are all walking fartbags ready to blow at any given moment.

Did you talk to your SO about your trauma? or did she start to notice you act differently and decided to break up with you? Either way, I'm sorry you went through what you did that started all of this and I hope you can work through and find some one else you can love and makes you happy.
