Today, my water broke. I called my mom, who had agreed to watch my other two kids while I went to the hospital. When I asked her to come over, she just said, "Sorry, now isn't a good time." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, at 2 in the morning, my water broke. I called my mom and woke her up to come watch our older kid, while my husband and I went to the hospital. After being tested at the hospital, I was told I had just peed myself. FML
July the fourth be with you!
Today, during my family's traditional fourth of July weekend celebration, my water broke. I kept trying to tell them and asked them to take me to the hospital, but they couldn't hear me over the fireworks. They all just kept smiling and nodding. FML
Partyblocked
Today, it's my birthday. I'd asked my mom weeks ago if she could watch my kids, so my husband and I could go celebrate. She told me an hour before we were supposed to leave I'd have to reschedule, so she could watch my brother's kids while he goes out for fun. Gee, thanks mom. FML
This pandemic is so 2019
Today, my water broke. Due to Covid-19, we couldn't go straight to labor and delivery, so had to go to the emergency room and wait to be taken up. I sat there for an hour with a ruptured sac and contractions. FML
Today, my wife's water broke so I drove her to the hospital. After 16 hours without labor, I went home to get a little sleep. Four hours later I got the call and ran outside to find that my car was towed from my parking space. FML
Today, I called my mom to tell her that I'm coming over for a visit. She answered: 'Why? What do you need? Food? Money? I'm not going to help you! You're a grown woman!' And she hung up. I just found out that I'm pregnant and she was the first person I wanted to share it with. FML
Today, at over 9 months pregnant, I woke up to a wet bed. Convinced my water broke, I woke up my husband and had him drive me to the hospital at 3am. The nurse told me my water was fine, I had just peed the bed. FML
Ambulances ain't cheap
Today, I went into labor, and my husband wasn't answering his phone. I called my sister to ask her to drive me to the hospital but she said she'd only do it if I paid her $1000. I had to dial 911, and almost gave birth in my bathroom in process. FML
Quid pro quo
Today, I called my sister and asked if she could watch my baby while I went to the store for desperately needed groceries and supplies. She refused, despite the fact that she's randomly dropped off her three rambunctious boys more times than I could count so she could go clubbing. FML
Today, I had debilitating stomach cramps and told my mom, but she said she was too tired to take me to the ER. I had appendicitis. Thanks Mom. FML

How can you say that a mother isn't worth her time? She did mind other two kids and anything could happen, maybe it was an emergency with one of the kids or anything could've happened.

8, I think OP's mom was going to watch the kids while OP went to the hospital.
w_introuble 25
12, that's exactly what I said, OP's mom watched OP's kids so anything could've happened that she couldn't come to a hospital when OP rang her.
SlapAndTickle 20
Ugh. Let me explain it better for you. OP's mom said she would watch the kid's when their mother went into labor. OP's mom said that it was a bad time meaning she wouldn't watch them.
ShyAnn29 15
17, I'm sorry, I guess I misunderstood
Movel 17
17, OP's mom was supposed to watch OP's kids while OP went to the hospital, but couldn't be bothered to do it when the time arrived. I think you've misunderstood the situation.
w_introuble 25
Well that's embarrassing, i comprehended OP's message completely wrong. Sorry about that, I accept defeat!

You understood the story when you made comment #3 though. Very confusing, you totally contradicted yourself
w_introuble 25
25, no it was the same understanding even when I made my comment, i suppose it just seems like I actually understood.
ShyAnn29 15
That was very confusing lol

#36 I know now, but i generally tend to believe the best in people so that would be the reason I thought it the other way.

You haven't been on FML long enough #39. :P

Sucks that your mom didn't come, I'm sure she had a reason - hopefully. However congratulations on your baby :-)

Was this her reaction to your other children?

My god, another inconvenient labour. Get it together mothers! Don't you know people have their own selfish lives to live nowadays?

I know that references to other FML's are usually well-received here, but you're being offensive to the OP, who might not have read the other post.

Lucky your comment explains. The quotation marks didn't quite cut it..
graceinsheepwear 34
62, anyone who is going to get offended easily has no business telling their tale of woe on FML. Give OP more credit than that for knowing that.

So when she asks to see the new baby, tell her it won't be a good time. On a more serious note, I'm sorry bout your mom OP, but congratulations on the new child.
SrakaSrakasta 20
Why are you having another kid if you don't even have anyone to watch over your first two? What if you get seriously sick? Who is gonna take care of them then?
w_introuble 25
Her mom is watching her other two kids, and I'm sure she has other people that could watch but your mom would be an obvious choice.
ShyAnn29 15
11, OP could be married, and normally the husband goes with his wife to the hospital.
lulubelles 33
#11 it's pretty normal for the grandparents to have your existing kids when you go into labour, everyone I know that has more than one child has done that! Also there could have been plenty of reasons why the father isn't around that wouldn't be op's fault, maybe he's deployed, away on business and the baby is early, had passed away or run off when she was heavily pregnant. You really shouldn't be so judgemental.
Ethrockerdude 6
She DID have someone to watch them. Can't you read?
kaykay2922 11
Dumbass... Obviously if she had a husband, he'll be with her!!! Wow...

I wish there was a button for that.
