Today, my social awkwardness is so bad, I was actually proud of myself for managing to ask someone a question. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Started from the bottom, now we're here
Today, I actually felt good after being rude to someone. My avoidant personality disorder and social anxiety have made me like such a goddamn pushover that standing up for myself in any way, right or wrong, makes me feel proud of myself. FML
Where am I?
Today, out of desperation, I had to fight my social anxiety in order ask a stranger for directions in a new city. She gave me a detailed answer, and I thanked her, then walked the wrong way for 15 minutes because I was too embarrassed to admit I’d understood none of it past the first sentence. FML
Keep out
Today, my social awkwardness got to an all-time high when I hoped that I wouldn't get the job that I applied for, because I'd be working with the public. FML
At last! Well done!
Today, I finally realized how stupid I am, when I answered a question correctly in class and my teacher started clapping and cheering. FML
Today, my social anxiety got so bad that I'm now afraid to add people on Facebook. FML
Today, a cute guy complimented me on my legs. I, being the awkward person that I am, panicked and replied, "Thanks, I grew them myself." FML
Anxiety
Today, I realised exactly how bad my social anxiety has gotten when I had a panic attack watching someone ask someone else out on a fictional show. FML
Today, I realized I'm so socially awkward that I can't even talk to Siri without stuttering. FML
Nervous Nelly
Today, my social anxiety is so bad that the mere thought of talking to anyone, even someone who isn't even real, makes me feel ill and uneasy. FML
Today, I realized that my somewhat flamboyant behavior may have given people the wrong impression when my classmate tried to set me up with one of her male friends. I've been trying to work up the courage to ask her out all semester. FML

I'm just like that. But be proud! It's baby steps, and before you know it you'll be able to do anything :) I, unfortunately, am not able to ask a stranger a question yet. But once again, baby steps! Good luck :)

Hey good for you! Let this be the start of something, not a one-off.

I have autism, I know how you feel. Sometimes, you have to push yourself to put yourself out there. It's great that you feel proud bro, keep it up. I've manage to do it, but I still struggle with new people. Try to ignore the possible trolls/assholes who might comment...

Do you have social anxiety? It sounds like you might. For someone with social anxiety, that actually is an accomplishment. Mine used to be so bad that looking someone in the eye was a real challenge; I would start shaking uncontrollably. I know how tough it is. The only way to improve is to keep putting yourself out there. It's only little things at first, such as what you just did-- asking someone a question. When you accomplish something like that successfully, it'll give you the confidence to do more and more bold social actions.

You don't like eye contact? I guess there's always doggy-style ;)

you're not alone! I was like that for a few years until I got my first job and had to talk to customers. After you get that experience with people, it's much easier after that

I've been there. At one point, it used to take me 10 minutes to work up the courage to ask a clerk a question (like "do you have this in size 2?"). But you can work on it. By doing seemingly easy things, like asking for an item's price, or anything like that. I have no problem talking to people now. Actually, people have trouble imagining me shy. So, don't give up. It just takes a lot of efforts, and courage.

If your social anxiety is that so bad that you can't even ask a question, you should seriously consider seeing a psychologist. You have the initiative to improve yourself but the psychologist will help you get over the anxiety faster. I had to see a psychotherapist for over a year after dropping out of college a few years ago, and I still suffer some social anxiety today.
