Today, a cute guy complimented me on my legs. I, being the awkward person that I am, panicked and replied, "Thanks, I grew them myself." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was at work when a cute guy came up to me and said he liked my shirt. In a desperate attempt to say something back, I said, "Thanks, I like your shoelaces." FML
Today, a guy started complimenting me and calling me beautiful. Halfway through, he burst out laughing and said he couldn't do it. Who needs self confidence, anyway? FML
Assface
Today, I was walking by a bunch of pretty girls. I'm not the most attractive boy, so I walked by nervously. I heard one yell, "Hey cutie!" I turned to look, and they started laughing. She said, "Oh my god, sorry! I assumed you were cute from your butt!" Apparently, my ass is nicer than my face. FML
Today, while working at the bar, I had a beautiful woman squeeze my bicep and tell me I was in amazing shape. Instead of flirting like any normal human being, I awkwardly said, "Thanks…" and then walked away in shame. FML
Rare insults corner
Today, a little girl came up to me and told me I looked like a foot. Thanks a bunch, darling. FML
Today, I politely complimented a stranger's excellent posture. She responded by saying "I have a metal rod in my back." FML
Today, I received a compliment for the first time from a girl. She told me she admires my courage to go out in public since most ugly people don't like to. FML
Oh no…
Today, a woman told me she liked my shoes. My social anxiety peaked so I panicked and said, “You too!” She wasn’t wearing shoes. FML
Carpe Diem
Today, at the Y, someone told me I had a cute ass. I liked that until I realized: a) a woman said it; b) I'm a woman; c) I'm straight; d) it's my first compliment in 2 years even though I'm 25; and e) I'm so in need of positive attention I ran after this woman to ask for a date. Me desperate much? FML
Today, I was talking to a really cute guy. He leaned closer and I thought he was going to kiss me. Instead, he leaned back, laughed and said, "Wow. You're growing a mustache." FML

I would've responded, "I would hope so"

Yeah, if he didn't think that was cute, you don't want to date him anyway.

There are sitcom writers who are paid more in a year than you'll ever make in your entire life to come up with lines like that. Make of that what you will.

I know how you feel. I don't think I'm pretty at all. If I get any compliments I freeze up and get confused. Most guys seem to notice that the "thank you?" is a bit of a question. I usually assume they're drunk or messing with me. Don't let it get you down! If he's worth keeping, he doesn't mind a little awkward. : )

That is a horrible way to assume someone being drunk. Most people want to share their thoughts on others by direct speaking. Even if you feel insecure about your body, or you don't think you're pretty enough, accept those compliments anyways. Everyone deserves a booster in their day. :)

I have horrible self esteem. I don't see why anybody would ever compliment me. It's an anxiety thing.

I have pretty bad social anxiety, but I don't mind when someone gives me a compliment. It feels nice knowing I look good to other people.

Social anxiety can be awful. I genuinely struggle with receiving compliments and often end up asking if they're going blind. I don't go to parties or gatherings and I am struggling to learn to drive because, after being on a motorbike for 2 years, I am uncomfortable with another person in the vehicle with me, I have genuinely considered wearing my protective clothing, helmet included, whilst driving my car. If I have to catch a bus I can sometimes come close to a nervous breakdown. When I crashed my bike I apologised to the random passerby, who stopped to help me avoid going into shock, because I felt bad about wasting his time, I broke my rib and suffered from nerve damage down my right hand side, but refused to go to hospital, because I didn't want to waste the doctor's time, despite potential liver and kidney failure caused by the trauma. I literally could have died because I thought that someone else could have needed help more urgently. I have such low self esteem that I genuinely believe that I am useless, despite the fact that I have been accepted onto a university course alongside people who have been working in industry since before I was born. I know that I am not useless, but I can't believe it.

Wow, that is really bad. I feel really sorry for you... (and I didn't mean that to sound like it might do)

Hahaha! Seriously, that's a great response!
