Today, my roommate asked for my opinion of her new painting. The same painting I hand-painted for over ten hours. She apparently thought it was a gift. She won't give it back. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I spent the whole night and day painting a portrait of my girlfriend. Being proud of it, I sent it to her hoping she would appreciate it. I spent hours working on that picture only for her to reply with, "That's not me, is it?" FML
Today, one of my paintings was accepted into a local art gallery. It would've been a dream come true, had my "best friend" not submitted it under her own name and taken all the credit. FML
Today, I spent hours hand-painting an awesome design on a gift for a friend. My husband was supposed to assemble it when I finished, but when I stepped back to admire my work, he informed me that the whole thing was sideways. He watched me paint it. FML
Today, I finished a big art project. It was a self-portrait done in acrylics. Proud of my piece, I showed my mom. After some thought her first comment was, "well, I'm either going to insult your art or your face." FML
Today, it's my girlfriend's birthday. I presented her with an oil painting of her that I'd been working on for over a month, and she started to cry. I thought it was because she liked it, until she asked if she really looks that ugly and disproportionate in real life. FML
Today, I came home to find that my girlfriend had repainted my bedroom. As she had offered to do it, it shouldn't have been a problem. However, she decided to return the several unopened cans of off-white paint that I'd bought for something "more neutral." Like "Sunset Orange." FML
Today, as my friend was rudely rummaging through my phone, she saw a picture of the pottery I've painted her for Christmas. Not only did she see it, but she also declared it ugly. That's probably the present I'm the most proud of this Christmas. FML
Today, my grandpa saw one of the paintings in the guest room at my house. "What the fuck?" he snorted, then said whoever painted it should "stick to their damn day job". I painted it. FML
Today, my friend told me I'm not welcome in her house anymore. I've spent the last two months painting and doing it up for her, because she's pregnant and couldn't herself. I just finished the job. FML
Link please
Today, my wife sold her first painting and was so proud of herself, until she found the buyer online and realized his YouTube page is full of videos where he paints over horrible art and turns it into good art. Her painting was on it, and yes, he visibly improved it and yes, my wife is raging at me. FML

Can't you just take it back? And lock your room...

Yell "This is Sparta" then kick her in the chest and take it back.

Well.. There's always the option of having her buy it from you after it's been graded if she wants it that bad...? Unless you wanted to keep it of course...

That's stealing. destroy the painting, you can paint another.

You can't just paint an exact copy of what you worked 10+ hours on.

You obviously aren't an artist. It took OP TEN HOURS to paint that. That can't exactly be recreated. I really can't stand ignorant people like you. -_-

tell her to give it back. If not call the cops on her for theft. it seems extreme but she will keep taking your stuff if you dont stop it now

Paint one of her without the painting then give her that one.

I'd tell her "it'll look so much better when I can finish it" and take it back

Have her pay or maybe you can interest her in something else

Why did your roommate ask your opinion on a painting YOU painted and "gave" to her?

I'm not understanding what is going on here

A gift from whom? Logic would indicate that if she asked your opinion on the painting, she doesn't know you painted it. Where did she think she got it from?
GentlemanBastard 15
Obviously the painting fairy gave it to her.

Don't be ridiculous. It was clearly the elves that live in the tree in her backyard. They left it right next to the plate of cookies they bake for her everyday.
