Today, my proposal to my girlfriend was supposed to be exactly when the ball dropped at midnight. Unfortunately my mother called her at 11:55pm to ask her if she liked the ring. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my girlfriend fell asleep while I was proposing. FML
Will you…
Today, I invited my girlfriend over to a family lunch, planning to propose to her at just the right moment. My family was in on it, including my apparently disapproving mom, who kept causing a scene to grab my girlfriend's attention every time I went to pull out the ring. FML
Today, I proposed to my girlfriend. She said yes, but the ring turned out to be quite tight on her finger. She then chewed me out, saying that I can't do anything right, then changed her answer to no. FML
Yes or No?

Picture perfect
Today, my boyfriend proposed with the perfect ring, restaurant, flowers, and champagne. He’s never been this well prepared for anything in his life, so he admitted that my mother planned the whole thing and forced him to propose, even though neither of us want to get married. She even bought the ring. FML
Today, I proposed to my girlfriend of 5 years. She bitched me out for not getting the ring she had been "hinting" me to get, and angrily left. FML
Today, I went to a jeweler's to buy a ring to propose to my girlfriend. When I was at the restaurant, in mid-proposal, with people watching, I realized I had left the ring in the store. FML
Today, I proposed to my girlfriend. She just grabbed the ring and said in a raspy voice, "My precious..." FML
Today, I proposed to my girlfriend, only for her to slap me, throwing the "fake ring" away and storming off, convinced it was a cruel joke. FML
A night to remember
Today, I planned to propose to my girlfriend in front of her family at dinner. I had the ring ready and got down on one knee. She immediately burst into laughter and said, "Are you kidding?" The family stared in silence, and I quickly realised she was just teasing me... until I stood up and knocked over an entire table of drinks. FML

That is terrible. Did you play it off like it was meant to happen? You could have given her your speech and played it so it ended at exactly midnight and then she would say yes at like 5 seconds to midnight and then you could have kissed her xD

Well hopefully she didn't say something dumb to your mom

Why would she call her? It would make more sense to call you first.

Or not call at all and let them enjoy their night

Exactly, if I was gonna call I'd wait at least 30 mins after for them to be all emotional and everything.
Vegetarian27 24
Exactly. I'd call the next morning.

She did you a favor. Ball drop proposals are very cliche.

congrats on being "that guy" who proposes on a holiday.

What's wrong with proposing on a holiday?

Maybe his girlfriend loves New Years or finds marriage proposals on holidays romantic.

I think the plan was pretty cute. What's bad about proposing on holidays? I find it to be more special and romantic.

wanting to start off the best year of her life in a romantic way is horrible? I sense a, "I don't understand women, FML" being written by you very soon.

But did you propose still?

I just hope she said yes, and you were both able to laugh it off

My dad did that the weekend I was going to propose. We stopped at my parent's house on the way to where I was going to propose to her and he says 'Where is it? Do you like it?' to her...

Imagine: it's New Years Eve in New York City. The wind is cold. The warmth of surrounding bodies barely is felt. Then, the train wreck of horrifying magnitude begins with the phone call from mommy dearest ruining the biggest moment of your life. Now you're in salvaging mode, trying to recover as much of the magic of that moment so effortless torn from your grasp. So, you propose right then and there, your long recited speech completely forgotten and all you can utter, as your heart pounds furiously, is "I love you. Will you marry me?" Yet despite all that, she still says no. Happy awkward new year! Neither of you can even run away from the other as the crowd erupts in cheers and jubilation of the newly set year.

Evil? Nah. Imaginative of the possibilities?definitely. Therein lies the problem of being an artist and an avid bibliophile. ;)
