Today, my parents refused to visit me at college because "the flights are too expensive." They are currently shopping for a new car to replace my mother's two-year-old Porsche. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Car brain
Today, I got woken up by my parents telling me I had to go buy a car so they could have transportation. Neither of their cars work, so I was letting them use mine, and then they wrecked it. It needs nearly a thousand bucks in repairs to be drivable again, but since it was my car, I have to replace it now to appease them. FML
Today, my mother won't let me intern at a prestigious college, working with graduate students and professors, and being paid, because she doesn't want to drive me. FML
Today, my parents asked if they could borrow my car. Why? Because they were going to see someone about a Craig's List ad and wanted to look poor. FML
**** me, right?
Today, I got offered a ride to go home for the weekend. I go to college six hours away from home and haven't seen my family for almost two months. When I called my mom with the good news, she told me not to come. FML
Today, after selling their car, my parents decided to inform me that my car (that I paid for myself) is now going to be the "Family Car". They also informed me that since it is, after all, my car, I'll still have to pay for the gas and maintenance. FML
See ya!
Today, my family was leaving for a weekend trip and was supposed to pick me up on the way down. About an hour before they are supposed to arrive, my mom calls to tell me that there's no room left in the car, so they won't be stopping to get me. FML
Today, I just bought a car with all of my own money. Then, when I brought it home my dad informed me that my mom will be driving it to work every day. FML
All road, no destination
Today, after ten months of carpooling or borrowing my mom's car to get to work, and saving money, I finally have a brand new car. However, I have nowhere to go, besides work, and everyone I know is busy or lives out of state. FML
A boy can dream
Today, I told my family about my dreams to get a modern car and house with my girlfriend, since I'm tired of fixing my '90s car and paying for my dad's rent and doing all his housework. They then told me I'm selfish for trying to leave them and that I don't care about them. FML
Today, I found out I will be without a car for two weeks because my mother volunteered to let my grandparents use mine while theirs is being repaired. They've been in 4 accidents over the last year. FML

#7 - the time and money they could've used to visit their child at college was put to replacing a car that's barely old. i don't think it's right, i think it's selfishness on the parents' side.

At least (most) parents (over 16) don't say stuff like YOLO or do duck faces.

It is the best time to buy a car, they're much cheaper at the minute, what with the recession and all.

I agree with 3, but i think she could keep her "old" car and go see their child at college (or don't do any of those and give me the money)

How do you know that Op isn't being selfish and omitting the fact that her parents car is broken?

She can afford a Porsche, so it's pretty safe to assume she can afford two flight tickets, and the mechanic bill if it IS broken.

Yes, the car is the priority...

You are an adult now. Your parents spent a large part of their life raising and preparing you for life. Don't feel bad if they don't have as much time for you as they did before.

Don't be such a little baby. You aren't a little kid anymore, you don't need your parents there to hold your hand. Instead of complaining that your parents are spending their money on themselves, maybe you should be thanking them for all the money and the time they spent on you raising you and getting you to where you could go to college in the first place?

OP just wants to see his parents and btw it has been proven that students that see their parents and keep open lines of communication with their parents adjust better to college than those that don't .

I agree with number nine but getting a new car every 2 years especially a Porsche is a waste .
