Today, my parents refused to visit me at college because "the flights are too expensive." They are currently shopping for a new car to replace my mother's two-year-old Porsche. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Car brain
Today, I got woken up by my parents telling me I had to go buy a car so they could have transportation. Neither of their cars work, so I was letting them use mine, and then they wrecked it. It needs nearly a thousand bucks in repairs to be drivable again, but since it was my car, I have to replace it now to appease them. FML
Today, my mother won't let me intern at a prestigious college, working with graduate students and professors, and being paid, because she doesn't want to drive me. FML
Today, my parents asked if they could borrow my car. Why? Because they were going to see someone about a Craig's List ad and wanted to look poor. FML
**** me, right?
Today, I got offered a ride to go home for the weekend. I go to college six hours away from home and haven't seen my family for almost two months. When I called my mom with the good news, she told me not to come. FML
Today, after selling their car, my parents decided to inform me that my car (that I paid for myself) is now going to be the "Family Car". They also informed me that since it is, after all, my car, I'll still have to pay for the gas and maintenance. FML
See ya!
Today, my family was leaving for a weekend trip and was supposed to pick me up on the way down. About an hour before they are supposed to arrive, my mom calls to tell me that there's no room left in the car, so they won't be stopping to get me. FML
Today, I just bought a car with all of my own money. Then, when I brought it home my dad informed me that my mom will be driving it to work every day. FML
All road, no destination
Today, after ten months of carpooling or borrowing my mom's car to get to work, and saving money, I finally have a brand new car. However, I have nowhere to go, besides work, and everyone I know is busy or lives out of state. FML
A boy can dream
Today, I told my family about my dreams to get a modern car and house with my girlfriend, since I'm tired of fixing my '90s car and paying for my dad's rent and doing all his housework. They then told me I'm selfish for trying to leave them and that I don't care about them. FML
Today, I found out I will be without a car for two weeks because my mother volunteered to let my grandparents use mine while theirs is being repaired. They've been in 4 accidents over the last year. FML

#7 - the time and money they could've used to visit their child at college was put to replacing a car that's barely old. i don't think it's right, i think it's selfishness on the parents' side.

Well, either your patents FAIL or you were that much of a pain to raise. Hahahahahahha. Wow my parents are the best. They'd never do that to me.

I feel your pain -- my parents visit this town that's only about 20 minutes away from my college ALL THE TIME. But do they ever come to visit me? Nope. The only times my parents have ever been to my school is to drop me off every year.

Some people are insensitively assuming the OP is a selfish baby. It could be the case, but what's wrong with wanting to spend time with your parents? I think it's nice that a kid wants to see their parents. I agree, the parents sound selfish. And if you can afford a Porsche, you can probably afford airfare- that or you shouldn't have a Porsche in the first place.

That's harsh. Some people say you're selfish, but that's silly. It's a 2-year old car. I kept my previous car until it would seriously NOT run any more (It was a 8 year old car, 10 years when it died. I live in Florida, and it didn't even have AC. AND it would randomly die). I now am driving my dad's trunk, that is 8 years old, and doesn't have radio, but otherwise runs fine. Unless I find a REALLY good deal on a green car, I think it's REALLY stupid to do that.
