Today, my parents let me babysit my baby sister for the first time. About an hour after they left, I was carrying her downstairs and tripped. Try calling your parents from the hospital and explaining that their daughter, who can't even crawl yet, has a broken leg. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
That's showbusiness!
Today, I was babysitting 3 toddlers. I wanted to entertain them by making them laugh, but nothing worked. Later on, I started down the stairs, but tripped and tumbled down. I realized I have broken my arm and bruised my knees. I also realized that kids think it's hilarious when you get injured. FML
Evil child
Today, I tried to put the little girl I babysit in timeout for lying to me. I was about to sit her down when she made a mad dash for the basement stairs, slipped on the wood floor, and fell down them. She told her parents and everyone at the ER that I had thrown her down the stairs. FML
Today, I came home to find my little sister had decided to play hopscotch under our carport. Feeling a small childish urge, I decided to hop on one leg to the front door. I tripped and fell, slicing my knee open. FML
Unbelievable
Today, I slipped and fell down the stairs, landing hard on my knee. Through my screams of agony, my mom accused me of exaggerating the pain, and said I was just being an attention seeker, before finally taking me to hospital. I was told my leg was broken. She refused to apologize. FML
Protect the child at all cost
Today, carrying my 10-month old niece down the stairs, I missed a step. Protecting her on the way down, I badly sprained my right foot and snapped the ligament in my left. I now can’t walk. FML
Walk, don't run
Today, whilst babysitting, I broke a glass. I explained to the kid that it was very important not to walk barefoot around where it had happened, because of the tiny bits of glass. He jumped back, scared, and while doing so tripped. I rushed to help him and ran through the broken glass. Barefoot. FML
Agony
Today, I fell down the stairs and landed heavily on my foot. Because I wasn't crying, my mom refused to take me to the hospital. It took me an hour of agony to convince her. It turned out to be broken in three different places. FML
Today, I wanted to pretend to have a seizure so my baby sister could know when to call 911. When I fell down and started to pretend, she decided to drink my soda instead of helping me. FML
Today, my mum told me that my sister's little kiddie swing wouldn't hold my weight. I told her she was being stupid, and went on anyway. A broken ankle and two pins in my elbow later, I'm willing to accept this. FML
Today, I pretended to have a heart attack so my baby sister would know when to call 911. When I fell down and started to pretend, she drank my soda instead of helping me. FML

Hopefully she's okay and everyone believes your story! Hospitals tend to suspect the worst when it comes to injured children

Unfortunate accidents happen all the time, and luckily it wasn't worse than a broken leg. Hope she heals quick!

That might be VERY bad OP cause her bones are still softer the an average person's bones. Make sure she gets the best treatment she can so she won't be limping or even worse her whole life. Take care OP ✌?️

Your parents may be angry with you now, but it was obviously an accident. Take the ass chewing they are going to give you.... Live with the reminder that will come from their mouths every so often.... But know that you did the right thing by getting her to a hospital right away; know that your initial reaction shows your love for your sibling

Accidents happen OP. Don't take it to hard and hopefully your parents don't either. The good thing about babies and small children is that they can heal up pretty fast and there is a good chance this wont be remembered by her due to how young she is. It will be okay.

On the plus side: you're both alive and relatively unharmed. On the downside, people are gonna be wary about leaving you alone with her for a while.

My son has been in and out of the Children's Hospital for dozens of surgeries since he was born and I can tell you young children heal way faster than adults.

I hate for people to say "it could've been worse...". Why dismiss the person's difficulties as being trivial. It's rude an inconsiderate, on my opinion.

When people say "it could have been worse," they're usually trying to help someone feel better, not dismiss their concerns. It's a way of letting someone know that what happened wasn't so bad and that they don't have to be super worried about what they probably feel was a gigantic mistake.

I'm glad you and your sister are ok Op. Accidents happen and this isn't your fault if you were careful!
