Today, my neighbor called the cops on me, all because he heard me speaking Arabic. I was on the phone with my grandmother in Egypt. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I had the cops called on me for acting suspiciously. I was using a payphone. FML
No more yodelling
Today, I was singing in the shower and my neighbor called the police because they thought I was in trouble. FML
Today, I went to pay my grandma a visit. She called the cops because she didn't recognize me and thought I was a robber. FML
Not taking it well
Today, my neighbor called the cops on me, claiming I'd threatened him with a gun. Despite zero proof, they took me to the station and gave me hell. I guess what I've learned today is that you should never offend your crazy neighbor by breaking up with his daughter. FML
Nice neighborhood
Today, I awoke to the sound of my neighbors attacking my car with a baseball bat accusing me of calling the cops on them. I did call the cops on them, after they screamed at me last night, drunkenly, to call the cops for them because they thought they were being robbed. FML
Speaking in Welsh can cause this too
Today, I was harassed repeatedly by other passengers during my flight for speaking Arabic and sounding aggressive. I was in no way being aggressive, and I had to speak Arabic because it's the only language my mother-in-law speaks. Such a fuss was made, I did end up being questioned by TSA. FML
Today, my dad cussed out an individual on the phone because he thought it was a telemarketer. He was my Indian girlfriend's father. FML
Today, my grandmother called me in a fit of panic because her new neighbors are black. So is my fiancé, whom she is supposed to meet tomorrow. FML
Today, some cops came to my house saying that the neighbors thought the party I was having was too loud and obnoxious. It was my grandmother's 86 birthday party. FML
I'm right here
Today, I discovered the terrible things my parents say about my wife while visiting them. They speak in Arabic around us and I've never really been able to understand them. Guess who hasn't only brushed up on his Arabic, but spent the last 6 months teaching his wife… FML

I look at the location and... ahhhhhh Texas makes sense.

I am surprised that there has not been a BLM FML yet.

I wonder what would have happened if you were Native American speaking Cherokee or something. What would he do then? "get out of my country" "Nooo, you get out of MY land."
zaidthunder1 27
The dumbass would have probably thought Cherokee to be some terrorist lingo.

Why can the police even respond to that? Speaking Arabic isn't even a little bit illegal.
bearbear120 27
I think I'm some areas the police always have to respond no matter what the call is.

I have an Arabic name and I'm pulled over at security every time I enter this country, even though I am a natural-born American. Islamaphobia is real, and deniers of it are blind to the truth

You are confusing the word islamophobia with islamistophobia. Being afraid of Islam as such is as being afraid of Christianity or Buddhism. Being afraid of islamism is like being afraid of nazism or communism.
tigerisabelle 31
And yet, am I? The average American, when they are bigoted, is afraid of Islam in general, because they're not educated enough to know the difference between radical and normal Islam. So yes, Islamophobia, not "Islamistphobia."

I'm sorry you go through that. I wish people weren't so close minded.

People are always quick to deny things that they personally have never been a victim of, such as racism or sexism.

Looks like the Trumpmania is spreading.

I assume either extremely bored cop syndrome and/or the caller misunderstood what she saw/heard and/or lied to get an honest police response. Like saying she heard him say, "bomb" or some other "mistake".
prettygurl89 16
That doesn't matter. Police HAVE to respond to calls.

well you can thank the dip shit terrorist groups like ISIS and al queda for that..when a small percentage of people use a religion or culture as a means to their end anyone who walks and talks like them is thought to be one of them. he probably thought you were planning the next Paris attack on the next plane to hijack..
Pinwheel 10
I am not sure they are responsible for idiotic neighbours.
no_playa_hater 14
There is only one person to thank: the neighbour. You are not going to blame ISIS for what this person did.
uzumakinurto 13
I think yall misunderstood what I was saying. I'm saying some people are ignorant and think anyone who speaks Arabic or any or language from the area of the world is automatically a terrorist..not saying I was blaming ISIS for that guy calling the cops
