Today, at my new job, I walked into the office to hear my supervisor and HR manager talking about how, "the new guy isn't very smart, but we can get him to do the shit work for a couple weeks." Gee, thanks. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Slacker
Today, my new supervisor arrived after my old one had transferred away and we had a quick evaluation meeting. As it turns out, I'm not actually a good employee like I thought. I just had a shitty boss who didn't care enough to let me know I wasn't meeting company standards. FML
Suck up
Today, I showed up to my new job early, hoping to impress my new boss. When he arrived, he walked by me and muttered, "Fucking tryhard." FML
Racing rats
Today, after working my ass off for months for an open supervisor job at my work, I found out that they hired someone for the position. The guy has never worked for the company before, has a background completely unrelated to what we do, and has to be trained as he knows nothing about what we do. FML
Bunch of NPCs
Today, my manager sat me down and insinuated that it's my fault that our new hires are useless. Not one person ever told me that I was responsible for training them. I'm not in charge, and they've been here for weeks. FML
Office Space
Today, I started at my new job. Turns out my boss is a complete douchebag. He spent most of the day looking over our shoulders and making cuntish comments about our work, then called a guy a piece of shit for farting, and forced him to spray disinfectant on his chair. FML
Today, at my new job, a coworker offered to help me mop the floors since she wasn't busy. I ended up getting written up by my boss for supposedly being too lazy and making other people finish my work. FML
Today, I got a new job and told everyone about it. A few hours later, I got an email from the executive saying I actually don't have the job anymore. FML
Commission demon
Today, on my second day at my new job, my supervisor told me that I was ready to make a sale on my own. Things were going well, until said supervisor interrupted my sales pitch, apologized on my behalf for being new, and stole my sale. FML
Meritocracy
Today, my boss brought his son in as our new manager. This kid has zero experience in our industry and yet waltzed into a £75,000 job where his sole responsibility is telling me how to do a skilled job I started before he was born. Plus half the stuff he tries to tell me is incorrect. Cretin. FML
First impressions
Today, my boss introduced a new hire and said, “You two will get along great.” I tried to make small talk, tripped over the recycling bin, and spilled paper everywhere. The new hire said, “So… is this, like, normal around here?” Unfortunately, yes. FML

Just quit and find a new job. Or stick it out and show them that you are worth keeping. There's two solutions to every problem.

Here's your chance to prove them wrong. Be a total badass and make them feel shitty.

They might have been talking about another new guy. Don't put yourself down so much OP.

Either way, those were still some cruel words to say about anyone.

I love when people say 'just quit'. OP might have to do crazy things like feed and house himself. Jobs aren't that easy to come by.

That's the main reason I got a job at a car dealership and said "**** y'all I quit" as I walked out the door

Prove them wrong...do the best job ever on those "shit-tasks" and they'll see you're smart.

See how it goes first before making any rash decisions. Certainly don't do anything impulsive based on what you overheard until you've at least confirmed they're talking about you

Sometimes it's good to be underestimated?

Well you are the newbie. It can be hard to intigrate into a new workplace, there will already be a pecking order and cliques. You have to stick it out and prove that you can do the job and get to know people. Work through the shit and when they start to respect you and see you aren't going anywhere they will give you better work.

So what did/didn't you do that they think you don't have smarts?
