Today, my mum yelled "Son of a bitch!" as I narrowly beat her at a game of Mario Kart. I jokingly yelled back "Hell yeah I am!" Now I'm grounded for two weeks, birthday included, all because my mum's a sore loser. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my dad grounded me for two weeks for profusely swearing at my misbehaving laptop. After some arguing, he actually accepted my half-joking offer to play a game of CoD over it. His condition was that if I lost, my grounding period would double. We played. He kicked my ass. FML
Ironic, isn't it?
Today, I got into an argument with my mother, when she snapped and called me a son of a bitch. I said that made no sense, because I'm a girl, and it'd only really confirm that she's a bitch. She then grounded me for insulting her. FML
Double standards
Today, my bus got held up in traffic, so I arrived home about 15 minutes late. My mum bitched me out, accused me of sleeping around, and grounded me. All this while my brother raged at his video game in the other room, screaming stuff such as "EAT SHIT, YOU CUNTS!" with total impunity. FML
You OK hon?
Today, my normally very modest and prissy mom came home, pissed off about something. I asked her what was wrong, but she wouldn't say, and snapped at me to "fuck off." She then grounded me for "making" her use that kind of "vile language." FML
Based
Today, my 8 year-old little sister said, "F*** you" to my mom. My mom thought I told her to say that and grounded me for a month. Later, my sister came up to me and said, "Gotcha, bitch." FML
Today, I got punched in the face after I beat my stepbrother at Mario Kart. I didn't really get hurt, but he managed to break a finger. My stepmom blamed the whole thing on me, accusing me of being violent and a bad influence on her son. FML
Caution flag
Today, my husband and son ganged up on me in a game of Mario Kart. I threw the game down and stormed off. The last thing I saw was them high-fiving and yelling "RAGE QUIT" and laughing hysterically. They will both suffer for this. FML
Today, my dad made a big show of sending me to my room and grounding me for a week. Not because he heard me cursing at my video game, but because I "swear like a little girl" and it embarrassed him in front of his friends. FML
Domestic
Today, my mom tried to ground me, even though I moved into my own flat to escape her. I told her 'my flat, my rules' so she tried to confiscate my Xbox because 'she’s the boss of me.' The look on her face as the cops took her away was worth the shouting match we’ll have when she makes bail. FML
Mario Kart is serious business
Today, I was playing Mario Kart with my wife. I threw a blue shell and it hit her. She then refused to speak to me for three hours straight until right before bedtime when she called me a bastard and told me to sleep on the couch. FML

Your mom is a bitch. Never play another game with her again. Oh wait, she might ground you for that too.
Onyx3288 22
Are you not getting that you called your mom a bitch? "Son of a bitch" then "yeah I am." I'm guessing she grounded you over more than just her being a sore loser. You really should have thought that one through...
bandeek 30
She probably should have thought it through. She's the one who called herself a bitch.
Onyx3288 22
Well, parents don't tend to be rational. But he shouldn't have pushed the situation further. Calling your mom a bitch when she simply used a common swear won't help anyone. That's not to say moms aren't bat shit crazy. This one was just given an excuse.
Hidebehindarock 19
Not really..it's more of a statement then name calling.
Onyx3288 22
Smh, this is how you know the kids who didn't get whoppings. If you're going to put yourself in the line of fire, do it for something that's worth it.
Ryan8878 21
@48 Sorry but all he said is "Hell Yeah I am" probably in jest. The fact remains she called herself a bitch and being the good son he is, agreed with his parent. It is irrational for his mother to ground him for agreeing with her. To claim he shouldn't put himself in the line of fire is victim blaming plain and ******* simple.

"Good son he is"!!!!!???!?!?! Being a good son means calling your mother a bitch?!!! Were you one of those kids who told his mother things like, "Shut up!" And "I have rights!" And "I can do what I want!" Or "You don't understand me!" Maybe, "Respect my stuff!" Let's see... "Shut up!" I'm guessing it's her house. How would you feel if someone said that to you in your house? Just because you love them... "I have rights!" Yes you do. Like calling the police and being raised in a foster home. Unless you are being abused... I don't understand why anyone would up to live in that situation, but hey! Those are your rights. "I can do what I want!" Do you pay the bills? If so, why do you live with your mom?? "You don't understand me!" Of course not! She's your mother!!! What is the age difference?! It would be nice that someone you love and loves you, understands you. But family doesn't apply... Unfortunately. It would be nice though..... "Respect my stuff!" Do you mean the stuff that your mom BOUGHT for you?! I have plenty of issues with my mother. She isn't the nicest person to me, even though she is an angel to everyone but me and my sisters. But even with those very serious and deep rooted issues, I'm smart enough not to call my mother a bitch. She brought me into this world, and if I gave her enough of an excuse she would at least try to take me out!

Hot damn, somebody's venting over here.

Oh my gosh - all he did was JOKINGLY banter when SHE set herself up for it and actually used it in the first place. She was the one insulting him to start with and she is massively out of line. You are adding so much to this argument - nowhere did we say the whole 'respect my rights' shizz. Please chill.
Sniperlogics 6
All of your argument is null, due to the fact of YOU suggesting that someone was like "this" and they probably did "that"; you are fighting a missing point of view.
Tyrez 32
I think that is just an expression but you turned it around and basically called her a bitch.
KitchKraft 21
She called herself the bitch...
laden_swallow09 35
She could have merely been cursing. Notice lack of "You" before the "son".
jackycat 17
33, I'm pretty sure she was talking about the game, not her son.
renrioku 15
#18 You don't say, I am sure no one figured that out yet. Thanks, Captain Obvious.

You still win.

You should appeal. Your mom's decision will be reversed by the court
ThePaperDragon 31
Why would you say such a thing about your mother? I would love if mine played video games with me!

Thumbs up from me. My Mom played games with me, when I was little and I loved & miss every minute.
Martha_91 8
well, you basicly called your mom a bitch after she called herself a bitch..
DoubleDosexo 12
she didn't call anyone a bitch, not even herself.
LeBandit 20
rainbow road does that to families
Vanessa_Leeann26 17
IMHO, As a mother myself, you were grounded not because your mother is a sore loser, but because you were disrespectful to her.
Vanessa_Leeann26 17
I know I'm going to be thumbs downed into the darkest hole of hell, but unless your parent is truly a bad parent, it's never ok to call them names, even in a joking fashion.
Migole 36
So it was ok for her to call him names first? I assume since OP is on FML they're at least 14 or 15 years of age and on the verge of adulthood themselves. I agree you should respect your parents but respect is earned, not given and calling your child "a son of a bitch" and then punishing him for JOKINGLY snapping back is not something you earn respect with. It just shows that you still have power over your almost grown child and want to show it. A responsible parent wouldn't abuse their power this way. It's not like the child called her names because he didn't want to do his chores or something ....
rocker_chick23 27
He was joking around with his mom. I have two sons, an 8 year old, a 5 year old, and I am pregnant with twins. If I said something and they said something jokingly back to me, I would laugh.
RedPillSucks 33
She wasn't calling OP "son of a bitch", she was using the phrase as an exclamation. OP has to know how his parent would react, so... Even though it was an overreaction on her part, OP kind of deserved it.
akatsukiOusawa 2
Thank you so much #49 I've been sitting here reading all these comments talking about how it wasn't ok for op's mom to call him that and blaming the mom where its obvious from the post at least that it wasn't even aimed at him and was a general statement.
DoubleDosexo 12
#39, at 14 or 15 people are a long way from being "on the verge of adulthood." You can't be both 18 and 14/15. that's just not how it works.
pinkster2014 25
#77 - She means that being 14 or 15 is only a few years away from being 18, and those years go by quickly... (hence the "on the verge of adulthood")
olpally 33
Your mom has no sense of humor. Lol, I feel sorry for her. It's just a damn game. She needs to chill. She shouldn't swear then.
DoubleDosexo 12
he called her a bitch. that's an insult, joking or not. I feel sorry for you. she's an adult, swearing around your child doesn't give them an excuse for insulting her. she needs to chill? what would you do if someone insulted your mom, as a joke. I doubt that you'd laugh along. that's disrespectful and by letting them do that and think it's okay. it'll soon no longer be a joke. what then? tell them it's not okay, "you thought it was funny and okay before. what's so different now?"
Ryan8878 21
@79 You're insane. She called herself a bitch and he was simply agreeing with her.
olpally 33
79, he was just making a witty remark, it's not like he meant to insult her. His mom just took losing the game way to hard. Sheesh. Is it wrong to insult her? Yes, but she set herself up for it. but did he actually say the word bitch? No.
