Today, after months of being pestered to do so, I finally read the first Harry Potter book. I hated it. Upon hearing this, my girlfriend posted the fact on Facebook, where I immediately received tons of abuse and eventual shunning by my friends, family, and coworkers. My girlfriend just laughed. FML

Today, I had to endure my girlfriend crying and screaming at me. The reason? I'm not able to please her like the fictional character Christian Grey in 50 Shades of Grey. When she left me, she took all her stuff and left me with copies of the three books. FML

You don't deserve it, OP. I'm assuming all the people that put YDI are Harry Potter fanatics. Maybe it's for the best, clearly she wasn't truly interested in pursuing a long-lasting relationship with you if she was willing to break up over something so stupid. I've been with my fiancé for going on three years now, and I love Twilight and he thinks it's the most idiotic thing on the planet. Would we ever break up over it? No. In fact, one of the things that attracted us to each other was how opposite we are. We respect each other's opinions whether we agree with them or not. FYL OP, one day you'll find someone who values your opinions!

I'm really not seeing the reason for OP having more "you deserved it" votes than "I agree, your life sucks" votes. They're only books (and not great ones, at that). Life doesn't revolve around a book series.
