Today, my fiancé and I appeared in the paper for obtaining our marriage license. In the same column half way down his parents appeared for filing their marriage dissolution petition. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Red flag?
Today, my parents informed that the man I'm going to marry had made it into the newspaper, on page twelve. He is listed as a fugitive and there is a warrant out for his arrest. FML
Bad timing
Today, after I filed for divorce, the papers were received by my soon-to-be ex-husband on our wedding anniversary. FML
Today, my boyfriend proposed. I was about to call my parents and tell them we're getting married, but they called me first to announce they're getting a divorce. FML
Today, my fiancé received his divorce papers. Thanks to his procrastinating, his divorce is effective May 29th. We're supposed to get married on May 28th. FML
Today, I planned on introducing my fiancé to my parents. After the introductions, and telling him how I hoped our relationship would have the same amount of love and commitment that has lasted my mother and father for 25 years, my parents awkwardly announced their imminent divorce. FML
WTF?
Today, I went to my fiancé's mother's funeral. His step-sister proudly announced that she's pregnant with his baby and they are engaged. FML
Today, my parents met my fiancée's parents for the first time in a large family gathering two weeks before our formal wedding. Both sets of parents were telling funny stories about our pasts. My dad's story won. He told how I spent a week in jail earlier this year. FML

Today, my fiancée got married. I did not. FML
I now pronounce you…
Today, while registering to get married, my fiancé and I discovered that we’re already married and have been since our first foreign holiday together, to Vegas, when we got very drunk. Elvis was there. See where I’m going with this? Our parents are furious. FML

First world problems.

That's basically what is FML.

To be fair, putting things that would not be "first world problems" would kind of take away from the mainly humourous (albeit darkly humourous) feel of this site. There are posts that are downright tragic, but it's not meant to be really, really, horrifically huge problems like life-threatening illness or mass deaths.

At first, I thought his parents filed a counter-petition to undo the OP's marriage. When I had some coffee and realized his parents coincidentally were getting divorced, I started crying. . . from boredom.

I had no idea that they put divorces in the paper, same as marriages (I'm from Denmark). That's pretty sad. I can understand celebratory announcements, but divorces (mostly) aren't causes for celebration. It's like people are enjoying the pain of others.

"Marriage dissolution petition"? Why the hell did you not just say "divorce"?

"Waaaahhhh, the person who wrote the FML didn't use the word acceptable for my neanderthal like brain." That's what I interpreted from your comment.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like the parents were petitioning to nullify their daughter's marriage, whereas "divorce" as you mentioned seems to refer more to the parents getting divorced. Just food for thought.

Yeah, for a moment I was wondering why OP's in-laws were petitioning to end OP's new marriage, but now I'm wondering why it's called a petition when OP's in laws are ending their OWN marriage...

I don't see what it has to do with you.

The parents didn't want their kid to marry the guy so they were petitioning to make it like it never happened. How does that not involve OP?

No one expects to get divorced. My god people don't use their heads. if you think after years of being together shit doesn't change then you're the dullest piece of human flesh to walk this earth. 60% on marriages fail after children are born. You obviously have no idea what relationships are like or what it's like to parent. I am not divorced. But I just read the tabloids about Kim Ks divorce to get facts. (that last part. Total joke)

First thing, congratulations on your wedding. Second thing, yes it's really sad that your future in laws are getting divorced but you aren't them.
