Today, my ex-fiancée's new boyfriend phoned me to ask what her ring size is. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I saw a picture of my ex giving her new boyfriend an extremely familiar ring. Upon zooming in, I realized that it was the engagement ring I gave her that she claimed to have had stolen from her home. FML
Not the one
Today, an ex-boyfriend of mine came to the jewelry store I work at to pick out an engagement ring for his girlfriend. The same guy who just a few months earlier ended our 8-year relationship because I wanted marriage and he didn't. FML
Today, I found out that my engagement ring was actually my husband's ex-fiancée's. FML
My precious
Today, in preparation for proposing to my girlfriend, I borrowed one of her rings so I could discreetly get her ring size. Not only have I now lost the ring, which turns out to be a keepsake from her dead grandmother, I still don't know her ring size. FML
Today, my ex called me up to suggest that we become friends, only so that she could introduce me to her new boyfriend. FML
Force of habit, or just mean?
Today, my fiancée’s siblings kept calling me by her ex-boyfriend’s name. FML
Doomed
Today, my fiancée handed me her engagement ring back and told me she felt like she's pressuring me into marriage, so to make me feel better about it we’re no longer engaged. On top of this, I found out she’s started talking to her ex again. FML
Today, the ex of my boyfriend of 18 months called me and put her phone in her purse. I heard my boyfriend say he's sick of me, he hasn't been happy for a year, and he's afraid to leave because he feels sorry for me. He bought her a ring. I got earrings. FML
Today, at work, my vindictive, cheating ex made me clean and inspect her new wedding ring. FML
Today, my ex fiancée, who left me six months ago, asked if I'd mind if she used the wedding dress I bought her for our wedding. She's just gotten engaged again. FML

"Oh her ring size? **** you. Thats the size". Hopefully you gave him hell. He could've gotten her ring size from anyone; he asked you to purposely get under your skin. Try to shake it off :(

Just wondering, what does a new boyfriend need a ring size for?

To buy a ring..for his girlfriend

I think 15's angle is that if they haven't been together long, it's generally a little forward to be purchasing a ring.

I think the OP used "new" to mean "current". there's no time line presented of when the girlfriend stopped dating OP and started dating Mr. New Booty.

yes, thank you #21 I guess you're right though, OP just meant "current". Makes sense!

This new boyfriend wreaks of insecurities. Block his number, and hopefully that's the last you hear of him.

Horrible move on the new guy and OP's ex's part! I imagine the ex wants the ring OP got for her, and thought that if the new guy asked her size, OP would sell it or give it to him, to give her... I would have just hung up, and blocked their numbers.

I'm assuming the ex doesn't know, the new boyfriend was thinking of a logical way to get her ring size without tipping her off.

er.. It is different if your fiancee left you 1 week ago or one year ago.. It is a precious information for him. Or maybe he just wanted to make you sad on purpose.

*high five* for the Choose Your Own Adventure reference! IMO, context isn't even necessary. (though a back story is always interesting). There is zero excuse for a new bf to contact an ex over a ring size. He can figure it out, talk to a jeweler, or go with a standard 7 and get it resized if need be. This was all about the dick move. It's less of an innocent "help me out bro," and more of "here's your friendly reminder that I'm banging her now! *evil laughs*"

Awww man I am so sorry! Yeah I know there is a button for that but really if it's any consolation to you, just know that you have all my sympathy from the other side of a planet. Looks like your ex is marrying an idiot, BTW. Good luck to you, OP. Chin up, it does get better!

Give him a large size so she thinks he thought her fingers are fat.

Or two sizes to small so she can't get it on at all ;)

He could've done whatever other boyfriends who don't have an ex-fiancee to phone do; ask a mutual friend to sneakily find it out, measure one of her existing rings, get a ring to be resized, get something cheap/funny to be a stand-in while they go ring shopping together! Really I feel very sorry for the girlfriend that her potential fiancee is so embarrassingly unimaginative/petty. I'd go the gracious route because she's clearly suffered enough.

I hope you have it to him. He still wins in the end because he gets to be with her. So just be a man about it
