Today, my dad cussed out an individual on the phone because he thought it was a telemarketer. He was my Indian girlfriend's father. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I received a call from the company I applied to, only to have my father pick it up and make fun of the man's accent. They won't call me back or take any of my calls, and my dad is completely unapologetic. FML
Blame game
Today, my dad tried to blame me for ringing an out of network number for two hours, which charged his bill by the minute. I rang the number, which turned out to belong to one of his business pals who lives abroad. He punished me anyway for having an attitude when I proved the call was his fault. FML
Today, I called my dad, because I haven't spoken to him in a while, and I wanted to invite him to my graduation in May. When he picked up, I said, "Hey, how have you been, dad?" He scoffed, "Wrong number" and hung up the phone. FML
Let's not keep in touch
Today, I tried to reach out to an old friend. He answered the phone sounding half-asleep, then suddenly switched to an outrageously fake and racist Indian accent, and started yelling nonsense down the phone once I said my name. Guess that bridge is burned, then. FML
Today, my father called me for the first time in two weeks since I moved away. Excited, I answered the phone. It was a mistake. He thought he'd called my sister. FML
Bigmouth Strikes Again
Today, I was involved in an intense argument with my dad. Just as I yelled, "You haven't done one thing for me", my phone rang. The same phone that, as of today, my dad no longer pays the bill for. FML
Today, I had to listen to my mother flirting on the phone with my dad's new girlfriend's ex-husband. FML
Nice to know
Today, my father got married. He left me a voicemail to tell me all about it. FML
Today, my dad came home drunk and called me hot. FML
Today, my friends thought it would be fun to change my dad's name on my phone to my girlfriend's name. Guess who got an erotic text message when standing next to me while in the line to buy groceries. FML

Your dad should have asked where they were calling from first. Standard procedure for telemarketers at my house. And then you hang up on them once you have ascertained that it is a telemarketer on the other end.

Maybe he won't take your father's bigotry to heart?

When I told my mom the name of the girl I was taking to the winter dance, she immediately asked if she was black (her name was Serena). It seems your dad went a little overboard. Hopefully he didn't say anything you can't patch up.

my parents do that with my friends... they always ask if they are black or Hispanic never white. they aren't racist though because we are mixed with black and other stuff but I guess it's just because black and Hispanics are thought of as bad.

I always ask what city they're in. As a truck driver, a lot of my coworkers were born in India and if the call centre is here I will know at least a little about his city. I get them sidetracked into talking about where we both live for a few minutes then tell them I gotta go. Most seem happy for the distraction from the stupid script they have to read.

haha my dad used to tell my little brother to talk to them when he spoke in broken English and mostly baby talk

Did he call while you were eating? If not, you can be sure it isn't a telemarketer. Tell your father to go a vacation and meet new people, how about a trip to India and he might just understand that a country with only telemarketer just won't function.

Your girlfriend's dad was outsourced to India?
