Today, my crush confessed their love for me, and I happily told them that I felt the same way. They looked uncomfortable, so I asked why. Apparently they'd been paid to prank me. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
You tried
Today, after thinking my crush maybe liked me back, I confessed. He didn't. FML
College life is hell
Today, my crush came up to me at a college party and said "I like you." I tried to be cool and said sarcastically, "Thank you. I like myself too. That was a wonderful prank." He was amazed, and asked me how I knew it was a prank. FML
Clueless
Today, I told my crush I liked him. Instead of rejecting me or telling me that he might have felt similar, he decided to pretend to be dumb and clueless and just kept asking who my crush was. I found out later that he knew all along but he just wanted to ragebait me. FML
Today, I got all excited because I thought my crush was flirting with me, when in actuality she was taking advantage of me liking her so she and her friends could make fun of my speech impediment. FML
Today, I told my crush, who I've liked for a while, that I liked him. He looked at me in pure terror and walked away. FML
Today, I told my crush of two years that I love him. He responded with an, "Aww, I'm sorry." and a pity hug. FML
Overcompensating
Today, I finally mustered up the courage to tell my crush how I feel about them. I poured my heart out, only for them to tell me that they're already seeing someone else. To make matters worse, they then asked me for advice on how to impress their new partner. FML
Falling and laughing
Today, I finally told my crush I liked him. He smiled and said, “That’s sweet, but I thought you knew I was seeing someone.” I laughed awkwardly and said, “Of course, I was just joking!” Then I immediately tripped over my own bag while leaving. FML
Never crush on company time
Today, I sent a heartfelt text to my crush confessing my feelings. I was over the moon when I saw they were typing a response. Turns out they were just asking if I could cover their shift at work. Rejected and now on the night shift. FML
Today, I confessed my love to my crush over text. Later, she posted the message I'd sent her on Facebook and wrote "look at the pathetic man". The post had over 50 laugh reacts. FML

Should have replied "aw I'm glad because I was just feeling sorry for you" and walked away. Don't let this bring you down

Being paid to mess with someone's feelings is downright cruel.

Been there. Also been catfished, and called a stalker despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. It hurts. A lot.

Well maybe if you hadn't followed someone around for 8 years.
BurnInDemonFire 39
That's a very arbitrary figure. How long were you sat at your computer for trying to pick a number that seemed random, but would make me appear to be extra creepy? Oh, and to reiterate, I'm no stalker.

There was a previous FML that the guy stalked OP for 8 years.

It’s a reference to an earlier story. If you want to have a snowball’s chance to make Meta Comment of the Week, you must commit recent stories to memory!

My memory is so bad, I'd forget my own name if it wasn't for my colleagues, and roommate.

You propably dodged a bullet there. Someone who would mess with somebody elses feelings for money... I don't know if I wanted to be friends with someone like that. Not to speak of in a relationship...

And that's called self inflicted embarrassment!
Sinshine 28
How is that self inflicted?? I wonder how you get into relationships but people usually tell each other that they like each other. That includes both people...

Talking about the crush.

“Hey, cheapskate, take me out to dinner with the money you made for jerking me around.” You’ll be telling this story to your grandkids.

"And that is how I met your mother..."

Take that money as a consolation prize.

OP - Today you discovered your crush is a jerk, and whoever paid them is an even bigger jerk. That’s sad and upsetting. But now you should write off that crush and hopefully move on to someone who might reciprocate your feelings. That’s one of the hard lessons in life - Not everyone we think we love or like will return those feelings. That’s why it’s best to move just one step at a time. If we see the person is interested and receptive then you can move to the next step. If they aren’t you do not come off as way too eager or as a potential stalker.
