Today, my boyfriend spent an hour lecturing me on how I need to ask for what I want. So I asked him to delete a crappy picture he'd taken of me the night before. His response: "No, you don't always get what you want." FML

Say that to him the next time he wants some ass. He sounds like a controlling bastard.

It sounds like a "Shut the **** up" would have been in line somewhere within that hour.

What seems to be the ossifer, problem ?

OP, try anal.

ooooh yeah. you get what you need

while this is a troll, it's much better than reading "first" all the time.

#115, this is not a troll. Unless you were kidding?

give this guy a medal!!

Seems like he's playing with your mind. If that's the kind of relationship you want then stick with it, but don't complain on FML. If you are complaining then address it head on and deal with the situation.

It sounds like he was trying to get you to understand that you need to assert and stand up for yourself, and you ask him to, of all things, delete a picture... You really couldn't have picked anything more benign. It makes it seem like you didn't understand the purpose of the entire conversation. You shouldn't have to be told that you can ask for what you want.

While an hour might be a bit too much for a simple lecture about being more assertive, he is right that you don't always get what you want. I don't always get what I want when I ask something to my gf, and the other way around. I guess her bf has been keeping his irritation quiet for a long time.
