Today, my boyfriend's mum begged me to stay with my boyfriend because she says I'm the only one who can actually get him through college and into a decent job. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my boyfriend told me that my mom paid him to date me. FML
Corruption
Today, my boyfriend just told me that his mom told him to break up with me, and that she would pay him to do it. His mom is a bitch. FML
Mummy's boy
Today, my boyfriend's mum said she won't stop us from seeing each other, yet she'll only allow me to see him for 30 minutes a day, for 2 days a week, and gets mad if he sees me for any longer, because "mother knows best." FML
Shut up
Today, my boyfriend's mother who lives with us decided that since I work from home, it would be a good idea for her to stay home and keep me company. "Keeping me company" includes ordering me to make her food, gossiping non stop, and ridiculing me for not being the woman that she always saw her son marrying. FML
Mama Bear
Today, I met my boyfriend's parents. We've been dating for almost 5 months and are extremely in love. His mom basically said to me, "I want what’s best for my son and you aren’t it." FML
Today, my boyfriend asked my father for permission to marry me. My father refused, on the basis that I'm the only person in the house with a job, and if I leave he will have to start looking for work. My boyfriend won't marry me without his permission, and my lazy father won't change his mind. FML
Today, I asked my boyfriend why he was dating me. He replied, "Well, there's not a lot of options at this college." FML
MILF Manor
Today, I found out that, for over three years, my boyfriend has solely been dating me to get closer to my mom. Apparently, "she's a total MILF." FML
Today, I met my boyfriend's parents. Later on, his mom pulls me aside and tells me to back off, saying he will never marry someone like me and he should be with a nice girl like his ex. They broke up after he found her in his bed with his roomate. FML
Gold digger
Today, my boyfriend send me a text to inform me that his mother had told him that I was only with him for his money, which he got from his dad's will… even though we were already together at the time. FML

that's not a reason to stay with him, him getting a job in the future isn't your problem do what you needa do, OP

Common knowledge: The only one who can change a person is themselves. He'll choose what to do, regardless if you stay with him or not. Do what's best for you and I hope the best for him too.

agreed! She is not his mother or nag!

That is not your responsibility. Your boyfriend needs to man up and his mom needs to not pressure you into staying with him if you don't feel the relationship is right for you.

I totally agree but sometimes some one (in this scenario OP) might be that persons motivation to change :)

That's definitely true too, sometimes people inspire others to change. It's how everyone grows to begin with, or so I think. So it's nice to be that person, but sometimes (In OP'S case) you have to let go and hope they find something else to inspire them or pull through it themselves.

it isn't up to you. abandon your boyfriend.

His path in life shouldn't really be heavily weighed on you. You should be with him because you want to and it makes you happy. It should not be a responsibility of yours to mother him into a decent lifestyle. That's completely inconsiderate of his mom to put you in such a position.

As hard as it might be, he needs to learn to want to achieve things for himself, not to please others. Stay with him if you actually want to, not because his mom is trying to put the blame on you if he doesn't succeed.

If you're not wanting to leave him, then stay with him of course. But don't feel bad if the relationship isn't working out...just leave. If he's one of those I-can't-live-or-get-a-job-without-you-babe, then the relationship most likely won't last long, because you'll be playing the role of a mother rather than a girlfriend.

what about just check with him for like once a month I think it will help

Lol what is she? His caregiver? His mother? Guardian? I understand what you mean but it really should not be her responsibility. He needs to learn and figure out how to live and make good decisions as well as bounce back from the bad decisions on his own without full dependency of others around him. He needs to stand on his OWN two feet. If she wants to HELP him, it is 110% okay but it should not be a duty of hers to check up on him.
