Today, my boyfriend of three years and I went to visit my 85 year-old grandmother at the hospital. While I went to the restroom, she apparently told him about a guy I was seeing on the side. I have no idea who she's talking about and my boyfriend refuses to talk to me. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Mystery
Today, my 65-year-old grandmother called and asked me to tell my boyfriend that she was flattered, but she's happily married. I have no idea what she was talking about and my boyfriend refuses to talk to me. FML
Today, I visited my 90-year-old great-grandmother and her boyfriend. This wouldn't be a problem, if this boyfriend wasn't different than the one she had yesterday. She told me not to tell him about "the other one". FML
Thanks!
Today, I was at my boyfriend's grandmother's house meeting her for the first time. I excused myself to the restroom and as I walked out of the room I heard her say, "You could do a lot better. She's fat." Then I heard my boyfriend reply, "I know." FML
Today, while waiting for my boyfriend to get out of the shower, I chatted with his grandma. As soon as we hear him exit the restroom, she smirks at me and lets a huge, smelly fart out. She blamed it on me. My boyfriend believed her. FML
Dying days
Today, my ex-boyfriend, with whom I've stayed friends with, begged me to accompany him to the hospital, and act like we are still in love and are now engaged in front of his dying grandmother, who once greatly supported our relationship. We both witnessed her last moments, and her last words to us: "…who the hell are you?" FML
Today, my boyfriend of 2 years decided to tell an unimaginably rude joke to my grandma while at my house. She hit him over the head with a vase, and he's threatening to press charges. I still don't know whose side to take. FML
Today, my boyfriend told me he couldn't spend the day with me as he had his grandmother's funeral. Lonely, I went shopping and I bumped into his mum having lunch with his 'dead' grandma. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me at my grandma's funeral. FML
Welcoming
Today, I was having lunch with my fiancé's family. After he excused himself to use the bathroom, his grandmother glared at me, sneered, "I never liked you" and kept eating while the others smirked. When my fiancé returned, everyone pretended nothing had happened. FML
Today, my grandma got a new boyfriend. She dumped the old one because "His wife was taking too long to die." FML

If an 85 year old hospitalized woman can convince your boyfriend you're cheating in under 5 minutes then you guys need to sit down and talk.

So your grandma doesn't like your boyfriend I take it.

how would op even deserve this?

@14 If she were actually seeing someone on the side.

Your boyfriend should trust you over a senile old lady, that's not cool of him.

If a close relative of my girlfriend told me, I would be shocked but I would have a tough time believing my gf unless the person who told me has a history of lying
cheeeksss 29
You would believe your gf's relative more so than your gf?? Wow.
guii_fml 24
If she did cheat it wouldnt benefit her if she told him so of course she would lie about it. Someone else wouldnt have guilt disclosing this because it wont benefit or hurt them. But really life is all about who u can trust and who u cant and the only person you can trust is yourself

I could understand more if it was one of OP's family members he'd known and befriended for a long time, and that person took him aside and had a long conversation with him including some form of proof. But believing a hospitalized (probably senile) elderly lady, after a 2 minute conversation, over your gf of three years...that is just stupid.

It's not a matter of "who you trust more", it's a matter of "Who has incentive to lie?" In MOST circumstances, there wouldn't be any reason for a relative to lie about such a thing, where as the GF, if she really was cheating, would have a reason to lie about it. Unfortunately though, some people who have no incentive to lie, do so anyway, because they're just sadistic/evil and enjoy destroying other people.

Apparently, for a good reason. He's so gullible he didn't check with her, or anyone else for that matter, to see if the old lady was lying?

Who's he supposed to check with? Most people don't tell the truth if they actually do have another fellow and are asked about it.

Perhaps you should read comments more throughly before attempting to correct them. Your correction is incorrect.

Too bad the boyfriend won't talk to her.

I think it's a matter of him not suspecting her because she's so old, so not believing she would have any reason to lie. It's a misconception that just because someone is elderly, that they can't be a lying piece of shit. Her Grandmother sounds like she's sadistic and enjoys hurting people for her own amusement.
iwadasn 33
More likely she has some sort of dementia or memory problem.
Mathalamus 25
She is 85. How your boyfriend is convinced, I have no idea. Perhaps there is an underlying issue?
MDoremis 38
Perhaps from her many, many years of experience she saw something in your boyfriend she didn't like that you couldn't see and took action, albeit wrongful action, to separate the two of you.
yerawizardlizzy 27
That's a pretty far reach you got there.
musoboy 22
@26: She is not the first person in these comments to make that suggestion.

I'm not quite sure how this is such a stretch. I've been in enough emotionally abusive relationships to recognize the signs in other relationships and if my granddaughter came to me in one I would absolutely ruin the **** out of it to save her the heartache I've experienced. Let her be angry with me all she wants if it keeps her from being emotionally damaged by her significant other.
iwadasn 33
Trying to manipulate the lives of your loved ones can emotionally damage them, too. Even if Grandma disapproves of the boyfriend, she should talk to OP about it rather than trying to take control and sabotage the relationship.

Sorry open that sucks.

Well OP Im sure he will come to his senses. Like other ppl have said, maybe she did not recognized him...
