Today, my boss discovered that I'm prone to random fainting, due to hypoglycemia. He has now nicknamed me "Fainting Goat" and makes relentless bleating noises every time he sees me. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, while at work I passed out due to my blood sugar not being normal. Despite the fact that it took 10 minutes to wake me, no one thought I was in any sort of danger. After the episode, I then got fired for "sleeping on the job." FML
Today, I took a test as part of a job requirement. I took a sip from a bottle of juice, and the lady leading the test gave me a warning. I tried to explain that if I didn't, I would faint. She took the bottle and hid it. 15 minutes later I collapsed. She thought I was faking. I'm hypoglycemic. FML
This is fine
Today, while at work, I suddenly went into diabetic shock. As I was nearly passed out on the floor, a customer yelled at me for not getting his coffee in time. FML
Why so serious?
Today, I attended my first Zoom meeting as a junior manager. Our CEO said she was feeling dizzy, and if anyone saw her passed out later they should get her some chocolate. Thinking she was joking, I burst out laughing. My boss quickly muted us, and told me that the CEO actually has diabetes. Nobody told me that. FML
Mismanaged
Today, my manager gave me hell for leaving the restaurant early yesterday. Guilty as charged, but only because I was rushed to the hospital after going into diabetic shock. This assmunch is convinced that I either faked it all to get off work early, or that I'd been eating our own stock. FML
Today, my coworker tried to convince my boss that I'm not human. Her examples of how I'm influenced by demons included how I don't wear a jacket in the winter, and that I once got a nosebleed from sneezing. My boss thinks she's hilarious and is playing along. FML
Today, I received my employee ID, which I have to wear at all times at my new job. The only problem is that in my photo, I look like a donkey having a seizure. Customers keep snickering at it, and my boss thinks I posed like that deliberately. FML
No excuses
Today, I got in trouble with my boss for not showing up to work yesterday. It seems going into anaphylactic shock isn't a valid excuse. FML
Guinea pig
Today, due to increasing frequency and severity of hypoglycemic symptoms, I went to the doctor. Apparently, the pill may have given me a rare form of temporary diabetes. She wants me to be a case study for the next 12 months. FML
Today, at work, my phone kept crashing. Without thinking, I announced that it was having a seizure. Who did I announce this to? My boss. Who also happens to have epilepsy. FML

That's really un-fair of him. You can't help what you have and he should, as your boss, support you, not make fun of you for something you can't control.

You can file a complaint with HR to people higher up than he is, unless he is the highest, then you're screwed...

I would talk to your boss before you go straight to HR. That way it's as not awkward. He probably doesn't know you dislike it so much.

Personally, I think it's kind of humorous and cool that you have a boss that can joke around and wants to joke around with you. But if it actually bothers you sit down and have a conversation about it and let him know that it bothers you. I'm sure he's not doing it to be mean. If by chance you have this conversation and he's still doing it after, then take it to HR. Hopefully it won't come to that.

just adding to the support of talking to the boss first. I remember poking fun at a friend in 9th grade and then later getting called up by the principal after I had unknowingly taken it too far. I really wish he had talken to me first and, even though I really had no right to be, I was pretty offended that he didn't come up to me first.

wow OP I would call the police and report him. you shouldn't have to deal with that. you're a strong person who shouldn't take crap for anyone.
thefmlman2011 37
I think taking it to the police is a bit far, don't you think?

"911 what's your emergency?" *sniff sniff* "My boss is joking with me and I can't tolerate it. I want to press charges " *click* "Hello?... Hello??? "

At least he remembers you ;)

I'd rather be remembered for the contributions I make as a staff memeber. And not be for something I could not control. But hey, maybe thats just me.
MollySheridan 11
I agree with #21 would you rather be remembered for a medical condition or for being good at your job?
Audem_fml 27
#68 and #21, you know I was just kidding, right ? I would awfully prefer being unoticed than remembered that way.

Wow, what a great boss. Professional and classy.

Hey at least your boss has a sense of humor, some would have just fired you since they don't want any work related injuries

That's illegal with the disabilities act.

I get what you're saying though with being able to be lighthearted and all though. But yeah, not legal.

Maybe consider a transfer, or a different job. Otherwise all you can do is laugh.

That's real professional behaviour one expects from a boss ... Or not.

On my first day of my first job, I fainted from dehydration. I know how embarrassing it is to pass out at work.
