Today, my 6-year-old nephew opened his Christmas gift. The first words out of his mouth were, "This is cheap." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Boxing
Today, I gave my nephew a toy car as a gift. He opened it, looked at it for two seconds, and then spent the next hour playing with the cardboard box it came in. Apparently, I could’ve saved $20 and just bought him a box. FML
Today, it was my brother's birthday. I was short on money but got him a present anyway. After opening it, he looked at it and said, "I didn't really want this." FML
Today, the first gift I opened was from my uncle. It was $80 in clothes that I'd bought for myself a week earlier. FML
Today, my son turned 8. We watched as he unwrapped a $55 Nerf gun, extra 'bullets', new shoes and a school bag with his favorite TV character on the front and a action figure inside. As he finished he looked me straight in the eyes and says, "That's great ma, but seriously what'd you get me?". FML
Today, my son told me the Christmas letter he wrote to Santa was a joke and he didn't want the stuff he asked for. I already bought everything. FML
Birthday boy
Today, I carefully wrapped my nephew's birthday present so it would look perfect. He thanked me, pushed it aside, and spent the next two hours pretending the empty cardboard box was a spaceship. FML
Today, I finally bought the toy my two year-old son always wanted. He would always tap on the TV when the commercial for it would appear. I gave him the gift, and he started playing with the bag it came in. FML
Cats are the same
Today, my son was playing with a piece of plastic wrapping and trying not to let it fall to the floor as if it were a balloon. This is after he got some kick ass gifts for Christmas. Kids. FML
Today, I opened my Christmas presents with my husband. One of the things he got me was a ball gag. "Yeah," he said with a grin, "That one's more for me but I didn't wanna buy myself headphones." Cue our son asking me what it was. FML
Today, I was on the phone with my friend, when my four year old nephew came in, asking who I was talking to. I told him it was Santa Claus, so he insisted on talking to him. I handed over the phone and I hear, "Santa is fake. Grow up." I spent the next two hours with a screaming child proving Santa exists. FML

You know what else is cheaper? No gift at all. See how much he likes that.

I'd take it back and say " ok nothing for you then"

It's OP's nephew, not niece.

Calling kids a "bitch"? That's taking it a little too far. A brat, maybe.

If he didn't like it I doubt he would care.

This year for Christmas my parents bought me cereal. It's the thought that counts right?

Coal isn't cheap. If I got coal I would happy and sell it. Then go buy something with all my money

Better start teaching him the value of a dollar now before he takes everything for granted.

It seems a bit too late for that. :L he's old enough to know what he's doing

Honesty is always the best policy... Well, perhaps not so in this case. What a brat. Everyone these days knows the price of things, but not the value of it. He could have at least thanked you for doing the gesture in the first place.

If he asks what it's made of scream, "YOUR MUM'S CHEST HAIR!" That'll shut him up.

What an ungrateful brat. I'd have taken it back from him and returned it.

OP should try to return his/her nephew and get a respectful, less spoiled one instead.

The gift obviously didn't have enough swag in it.

I would of gone all "back in my day" on him and said "oh yeah? Back in my day we used to play with only the box that thing came in!"
