Today, I found out I am pregnant. I hooked up with my step-dad not that long ago while my mom was out of town. I'm 30 and he wants to tell my mom my baby is his, and I like the idea of telling her, but also know she won’t take it well. FML

Honestly, the only things I see wrong with this are their ages and the fact that she's pregnant at so young an age. They aren't blood related so technically it's not incest. Also, while some may blame the parents for not seeing this coming, I can't help but point out that teenagers can be extremely sneaky. You'd be amazed at how much a teen can get away with even with both parents being on top of things. I once had a friend who fell in love with his step-sister, but they were 17 and 18, and they waited until they were both moved out of their parents' house before furthering their relationship. Now, they've been married a year and both their parents, and them are extremely happy. Just because these kids are related through marriage, doesn't mean it's wrong that they want to be together. The heart can't help who it loves. As for the pregnancy, definitely sit down and talk with them about what needs to happen. If you and they aren't against it, I would consider abortion or adoption as an option. If only because they are both way too young to be raising a child. (Although, if you think about it, at least if they do raise the baby together, the father lives with her already so he'll be able to share in the raising of the child...) Talk with them about it. Best of luck.

I know the point was already made that we don't know if the kids liked each other before the parents were married. It's not like kids of single parents who are friends or dating have never had those parents fall in love before. So it shouldn't be shocking if kids who are step siblings sometimes get together. The real problem is a pregnancy at that age. Just because we may think of them as siblings doesn't mean that they see each other in the same light as we do. Gl to your family op. it's not a mess I'd want to have to deal with.

Mazeltov. Your entire family has now fulfilled its biological imperative. You and your wife will now be linked through your grandchild which is odd and awkward but will turn out ok. Your familial bonds will be strengthened. Besides the obvious socioeconomic implications, I think you'll do all right!
