Today, I found out that instead of being stationed in Afghanistan, my husband of 9 years has been "stationed" at his other girlfriend's house. FML
Today, I came home from a one-year Army deployment, only for my wife to tell me she feels claustrophobic with me in the bed. She then asked for a divorce. FML
Today, I'm in my fourth month of training in the US Navy. I'm 3000 miles from home. I joined to give my wife a better life. Since I've been gone, she decided that she liked being single. FML
Today, I'm seven months into a twelve month deployment. I called my fiancée, and she dumped me. The worst part is that two days ago, I re-enlisted to go to a unit an hour away from her house. FML
Today, I learned that the girl I've been seeing for 6 months is actually married. She just dates me when her husband is pissing her off. FML
Today, my family sat me down and told me I was spending way too much time with my boyfriend and not enough time with them. My boyfriend has been away in Iraq for six months and just came home a week ago. FML
Today, my partner was sent 450 miles away by the army, after he had been home for only 22 hours. Yesterday they told him he could come home for two weeks. I guess the British army doesn't want me to be happy. FML
Today, it's been one year since my husband moved six states away for his job. The plan was for me to stay behind until I found a job, but I still haven't in all this time. I can just feel the distance growing between us. FML
Today, is the 6 month anniversary of my boyfriend and I. Turns out next month he will be celebrating the 3 year anniversary of him and his wife. FML
Today, I found out after 6 months in basic training that my wife of 3 years was playing the long game to scam me. She took me for 25k while I was away, then left me for a homeless meth head. I've been "getting divorced" now longer than we had been happily married. FML

Last time I checked, we were free before we were in this war. We actually invaded THEM. Not to say I don't have respect for the troops, but we are fighting in a war that isn't ours. And for my pre-determined response to the people that will ramble on about how they attacked us first: Not one Iraqi has ever killed any of our people on our soil. 9/11 was mainly Saudi Arabians. As for OP, I'm terribly sorry for you. I don't think your life is fuckable, nor do you deserve it at all. You have a wife that loves you enough to stick by you for long periods at a time without seeing you. Be happy you have her, she sounds like a great girl.

So this guy is crazy about me, but we haven't ever been on a date because he went to the marines before he contacted me again. He was supposed to come back in June but it was postponed till August. So I know how that sucks for you. Hopefully things will get better. (I support you for being in the Army, btw)

Wow... okay here goes. First off, OP, kudos to you man, I don't know what you do or where you are, but hey man hope you get to see your wife soon. Now, for everyone who is claiming this man is a solder, do we know that? He could be a medic, or an interpreter, he might not even be in the middle east. Why are people so quick to jump to conclusions? As for you Bollywood_rocks, do us all a favor and learn how to type semi-properly, get your facts straight and kindly just in general **** off. Guess what, what's done is done as far as the war goes and no amount of yelling or bickering or trolling is going to change that. We have a new president in office now so chill, and as for making fun of foreign leaders, every one screws up. You don't just have to be as some of you say a brainless person to be in the army, maybe they needed the money, or maybe they did go to school first, they still get sent over. Also, there are plenty of countries in the world way worse than the USA, take it from someone who's been there, but every thing has their good points. As for solving things without violence, take a look at history. Violence solves many things. Do you think Hitler would've been open for tea and cookies while we talked over his invasions and firmly told him "No" and slapped him on the wrist? Now sure, different situation but hopefully you can see where I'm going with this. Yes, many people die because of our military, but just as many or more people are saved, many are given new lives and chances and yes, the reason we haven't had an attack on American soil in so long is because the threat was eliminated. I never supported the war, but I respect those brave men and women who fight and are overseas all over the world doing their jobs. This coming from a Navy brat, father having served 20+ years, both grandfather and great grandfathers in the Army, only half American and having foreign mother who now works at one of the biggest Army base trauma centers and yes, we all went/are going to college.

okay for some of the people out there you are idiots. i joined when i was 17 for college money. not everyone is stupid. some people just don't want to put their parents in debt or maybe they wanted to do something better with their life and give back to the people that fought and have died for us. people in the military may not be heroes to you, but to a lot of us they are. yes, there are different types of hereos. some may think their parents are heroes or their grandparents. anyway you see it everyone has a different outlook on life. my boyfriend and i are both in the service and he is getting ready to go overseas. it sucks not being able to see him, but we did sign the dotted line and that is what is going to happen. we give up OUR FREEDOM for YOUR OWN FREEDOM and this is what you do? say mean comments and say he is the idiot? i would love for some of you to go to basic training and be put under the pressure we go through. you think the military is just one big joke? no we protect most of you dumbasses out there. do we want to because you guys don't support us? HECK NO! but we do. and making a baby isn't going to help out one bit. it only makes it harder to have children because you are not around 24/7. also, don't say we just kill and fight innocent children, men and women. we aren't over there for nothing. they only show the bad on tv, but most of the time if you ask anyone who has been overseas there has been some good. whethere or not you support the war don't go talk trash on someone in the military. think in your head could i really do what they do? and if your answer is no then go thank someone in the service because you sure as hell can't fill their shoes and they are protecting you.

Now this is what I'm curious about. What the hell are you protecting the US citizens from? I don't see an invasion force ready to attack on your border. The whole thing I'm mad about is the fact that they go out, destroy a country, kill people and when they get back they're called ******* hero. That's what I just can't understand.

there are national guard people that help state side though you don't them very much they are there for state disasters. and like i said NOT everyone thinks we are heroes, but many people do and are thankful for us. while others could careless. everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but if you don't have a military you don't have a country. and that's the way i see it.

Simple, it's like this: imagine that a person that one of our soldiers killed was an extremist, who will stop at nothing to get his way. So imagine what might have happened if the soldier hadn't killed this extremist, maybe this extremist would have gone home, built a bomb, taken it to a crowded public area, and detonated it, killing hundreds of people, including women and children, who had no intention of harming this person. I know this does not totally justify killings, but our soldiers have a rule of engagement that states that they can only shoot when fired upon, so our soldiers aren't just shooting random farmers, they are shooting people that are shooting at them, now i am not saying that is always the case, but when one of our guys shoots an innocent civilian, there are severe punishments.

I feel you there, my husband is a Navy Corpsman, today is our 11 month anniversary and we have been together about 4 of those months..its hard, but Im so proud of him and I support him and Im behind him at all times.
