Today, is January 1st. Last night, I threw a party. Only 3 people came. Luckily, one of the people who came was the love of my life, I had been hoping to get a midnight kiss from him. Unluckly, he decided to get back with his ex-girlfriend. At my party. They were liplocked almost the whole time. FML

Today, during the countdown to midnight, I looked for my girlfriend so I could kiss her as 2013 began. I found her just in time to see her making out with some guy she swore was "only a friend." FML
Today, I was at a party and spent the whole night bragging to my friends about how I thought this girl was totally into me. As we were leaving, we saw the same girl making out with my ex. FML
Today, I organized a party, invited a girl I've been secretly in love with for years, as well as a friend of mine who brought along an unknown mate of his. The party was fine, although the unknown mate threw up all over the floor. Now, the girl is dating that unknown mate and is in love with him. FML
Today, I went to a huge party. My ex boyfriend was there who I still have feelings for, so I decided to make him jealous by making out with the really drunk guy next to me. While we were making out, he threw up in my mouth and all over me. Everybody found it hysterical including my ex. FML
Today, I was with my boyfriend of two months, hoping this would be our night of the first kiss. I was so excited when the ball started to drop. When it hit "0", I turned to him, hoping for a kiss, and saw him making out with another girl. He didn't even turn around. FML
Today, I went to a party and saw my current boyfriend making out with my ex-boyfriend. FML
Today, It was my fiancé's 21st birthday party. It ended with him too drunk to walk and wailing about how much he misses an ex girlfriend of his that he dumped 4 years ago. FML
Today, while at a party, I ran into the girl I've liked for ages. I was so nervous, but I managed to keep the conversation going for a half hour. After mustering up the courage to ask her out on a date, her drunk, over-protective ex burst in and threw up on my shirt. Good timing, asswipe. FML
Today, I was invited to a party, but I didn't attend because my boyfriend would be disappointed with me. Instead, I spent the night with him watching movies. At the end of the night, he broke up with me because I wasn't fun enough. FML
Today, I finally kissed the guy I really love at a party. He took me outside and immediately vomited. FML

This guy wasn't stupid. He knew what he wanted and he got it. "Stupid" would be spending a lot of time and effort to plan a party, inviting someone who you think is the "love of your life", and just hoping that he'll fall madly in love with you for no particular reason. In other words, stupid is believing that fairy tales are documentaries.

If the ex was one of the OP's friends thats all the more reason OP shouldnt have been looking to get with the guy. Friends ex's are no-no's,. that is if you respect your friends.IMO

I think mentioning the date was more of a transition. Every FML starts with "Today" so she couldn't jump right into talking about last night.

OP, If they had broken up, why the hell would you invite BOTH of them to your New Years Eve Party, particularly if you were hoping to score with him? Thats just asking for them to get back together. I mean that provides the opportunity for them to talk to each other about things. And talking usually involves a conversation about the feelings that they still have for each other. And its New Years where the alcohol is flowing and the promise of a new year makes anything seem possible. If you were hoping to score with the guy and the ex is not a good friend of yours, you should have invited him ONLY. If the ex is a good friend of yours, really consider whether that guy is worth it, cause nothing will destroy a good friendship faster than hooking up with your friends ex if she is not totally over him. At least now you know how he feels. He chose the ex. Time to move on.
