Today, I withdrew €40 at the ATM to pay for dinner later tonight. It wasn't until I went to pay for it that I realized I'd taken the receipt, but left the cash in the ATM. FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I went to have a drink with my friend. On the way I withdrew 20 bucks and when I arrived at the bar I realised I had taken my credit card but not the banknote. FML
Today, I went to withdraw 200 dollars. At the ATM, I noticed a suspicious man standing really close to me. I was nervous about entering my pin number, and worried he was looking at my account information. In my panic, I got all the way home before realizing that I'd left the cash in the machine. FML
Today, I went to a restaurant and only brought $14 with me to eat. I ordered and ate my meal, then went to the counter to pay for it. I threw $2 into the tip jar then got my bill. My bill was $13.86. I had to reach into the tip jar and take my $2 back so I could pay for my meal. FML
Today, I ordered take out, and paid with a credit card. The cute cashier gave me the receipt to sign, and under 'tip' I gave a couple of dollars. I realized that I had given too much, crossed it out, and changed it. Unaware she was watching, She then responded, "Did you just lower the tip by $1?" FML
Today, when I went to pay for my groceries, I accidentally handed the cashier a condom instead of my $20. FML
Today, while at the vending machine, I put in my $20 instead of my $1. I got my change back in quarters. FML
Today, I went to an ATM to see how much money I had in my account. I put the card in. It never gave it back. FML
Today, I withdrew $120 from the ATM at the hotel I'm staying at, only to have no money come out. When I talked to the concierge, who witnessed the whole thing, she said it had been happening all day and that the machine was broken. My bank says it's the hotel's problem, and the hotel says it's the bank's problem. Either way, I'm out $120. FML
Today, I found $20 in an old jacket and celebrated by buying myself a fancy lunch (well, Burger King, but that just goes to show how well I'm doing in this economy). When I got home, I realized I'd left my wallet at the restaurant while paying with the $20. FML
Today, I went to deposit a check, only for them to accidentally deduct the whole thing from my account. I didn't notice this until I went to buy groceries, after the bank had closed. I'm in negative numbers and will get an overdraft charge by the time I can get it fixed. FML

I feel like that would be the one thing I definitely wouldn't forget after going to the ATM considering that's the reason I went there in the first place

I work at a bank and people do this all the time, as well as forgetting their cards. It's a pain for us to get your shit back just because you were too stupid to pay attention. A third grader would know better. Idiot.

The ATM will retract the money, if it isn't pulled out of the slit in a certain time. Some banks will then not deduct this from your account, others will have to check the ATMs event log and then clear the issue. If the next customer took the money, he's on camera and will have ID'd himself with his transaction anyway. So, you don't have to worry at all. (I assume the ATMs in France are like the ones here in Germany.)

the ATM's in Australia don't allow you to leave without taking your stuff. money won't come out untill u have removed your card and the machine doesn't stop flashing and beeping untill you take your money.
