Today, I was taking my earrings out and thought I had lost the back of one. Turns out my ear infection has caused the flesh of my ear to grow around and engulf the back of my earring and it is still stuck in there. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I have an infected piercing because I'm allergic to the metal. My ear is so swollen that I can't remove the jewelry. It won't get better until I'm able to remove the jewelry. FML
Today, I spent the first day of my senior year in the ER because my new ear piercing got so infected that the doctors had to cut the earring out. FML
It's not what you think
Today, and for the past few days, I've become aware that it's absolutely the worst time ever to get an infection after getting my right ear pieced, and having to walk around with a big Band-aid on my earlobe. FML
Ewwwwww
Today, my excruciating ear pain turned out to be a bastard maggot eating away at all the vital things behind my eardrum. The doctor pulled it out, but I’m now permanently deaf in that ear and can’t balance. I fall if I try to stand or walk further than 5 feet. FML
Waxing and waning
Today, I went to the doctor's to get a checkup. When the nurse stuck the Otoscope into my ear to look, she was disgusted. When she pulled it out, she told me that I had an ear infection, and that she'd popped a pimple in there by mistake. FML
What?
Today, something blocked my ear. I couldn't get it out, so I went to Urgent Care so I didn't pop my eardrums. Turns out my allergies made my ears stop draining. After they rinsed my ears, I can now hear almost nothing. FML
Careful
Today, I got a second piercing in my ear. I needed help cleaning the back, so I asked my dad for help. I told him to careful, but right when I did, he tore the earring out with the cotton swab. Thanks, dad. FML
Creepy crawlies
Today, I discovered that it is possible for bugs to lay eggs in your ears. FML
Today, I was laying down in bed when my puppy decided to bite my ear. As I started laughing and pulling him off, I noticed one of my $200 earrings got pulled off with it. And now… I wait. FML
The road to hell, good intentions, all that jazz
Today, in the process of leaning over the sink to close the drain so my diamond earrings wouldn't fall in as I put them on, I dropped my diamond earring down the drain. FML

You're supposed to turn the earrings otherwise the skin will grow around it.

it didn't get like that in a day!! don't you turn them periodically? I do by habit several times a day.

This happened to me. The back of the earring was stuck. On both ears. So I had to turn my ear, letting a side of the earring free and pull it the other way. There's still a mark and you can feel where it was. Is that bad..?

wow your stupid, tongue piercings do not heal in an hour. just speaking from personal experience, it's more like 2 weeks too fully heal.

I do not normally reply to such old comments but I beg to differ. When I had my tongue pierced I had to take my tongue ring out for an ROTC parade. The parade lasted only 45 minutes and my piecing had healed. So yes the tongue does heal that quickly.

Ouch! That happened to me when I was six. Keep your earrings in - the piercing can easily be saved (and then you don't have to get them re-pierced) - just go to the doctor, have them remove the backing, and clean it once a day with rubbing alcohol/hydrogen peroxide (I use both when my piercings are infected) and apply neosporin. Make sure your earrings are clean too! When you clean your piercing, swab the studs with rubbing alcohol too. My ears are really sensitive and I've found that rubbing the studs with alcohol before putting them back in really cuts back on the pain of actually putting them back in an infected piercing. Good luck!

Alcohol and hydrogen peroxide are actually bad for piercings. They dry the ears out and that doesn't allow the piercing to heal properly. I recommend an antiseptic ear care solution or sea salt solution which is good for all piercings.

Hydrogen peroxide is good for your ears as long as its no stronger than 6% and is dilluted to equal parts of water and hydrogen peroxide. Also, tea tree oil is very good too, I find that antiseptic creams/sprays like savlon just make things worse, but saline solution is god.

I've never thought of tea tree oil. I'll have to try that. I pierce ears so I try to find new solutions since they all insist on using alcohol.

It works well as it's antibacterial, I prefer to buy the tea tree essential oil, rather than the already dilluted tea tree oil, then just put a few drops in to a saline or hydrogen peroxide solution, works a treat!

you can put neosporin directly on the posts after cleaning them... i do it everytime I change my earrings and it works wonderfully... easy, quick, and little cost... and make sure to use one cotton ball for one ear and a new one for the other so as not to cross contaminate! :) peace & good luck y'all
