Today, I was in class. I am an older student going back for my PhD. I was kicked out of class for "sassing" my instructor for telling him he was wrong about what took place at an event I was actually present at. My instructor is a 22 year old TA. FML

Today, I was escorted out of the building for getting in a scuffle at my anger management class. FML
Today, I was kicked out of college for not attending a class I wasn't ever enrolled in. FML
Today, I was in sociology class and I raised my hand to ask a question, not realizing that the professor was right behind me. I smacked him right in the face, no doubt reducing my chances of a good grade. FML
Today, my professor gave me a huge lecture in front of the class about showing up sick, about how I was endangering the lives of other students, and kicked me out of class. As I left, everyone applauded. I'm not sick, but suffering for horrible allergies. FML
Today, I was written up and given a penalty for being 3 minutes late to class. By my instructor. Who was 17 minutes late. FML
Today, I was teaching and a boy sitting in front kept laughing and smiling, even after I asked him to cut it out. I got so annoyed that I jokingly said I'd knock his teeth out, and asked him to leave the class. The kid went to the principal and told him I intended to hurt him. I'm a college professor. FML
Today, I gathered the courage to participate in a class discussion. My professor laughed at me. FML
Today, I was bitched out by my 17 year-old son's teacher. It seems the idiot teacher made the kids advocate for his own political beliefs in a presentation, and my son ended his speech saying, "And it remains my opinion that our instructor is cramping my motherfucking style." Instant suspension. FML
Today, I got sent out of the class for "inappropriate" behaviour. The teacher later forgot about me and sent a notice home to my parents stating that I skipped class. FML
Today, a student set me on fire while I was lecturing my class about proper lab safety. FML

More proof that TA's are TA's for a reason: They don't know shit and the only reason they got to be TA is because they kissed a lot of ass to get there.

If he's right and the teacher doesn't know his/her own subject (the subject they're doing a lesson on! not even one that came up as a question) then he can be sassy if he wants imo.

@#27 nothing gives anybody the right to be sassy, its just highly rude, the op does have the right to oppose/correct the teacher, but never sass, doesnt matter what mental level/age/correctness/authority a person has, nobody has the right to be rude to another, even if those in power love to do it, its still wrong, all people should treat eachother civilly even in the face of outstanding ignorance

But you're right. If the TA was wrong, he was wrong. Telling him he's wrong isn't being rude. What would be rude is letting him continue being wrong. What is wrong with someone that they get upset when they're corrected?

Not always true (on the "kissing ass" count)... for example, a lot of TA's are grad students who would rather spend time doing their own work instead of another professor's bidding, but are in that position against their will because the program requires some TA-ing. I'm one of those people. As for not knowing shit, well... that's true a good amount of the time.

My husband was a TA because the grad program required it. He was also the best damn TA in the department with a GPA of 3.98 on a 4 point scale. He ended up changing how some things are done at his school.

Not true - I'm a Ph.D. student and HAVE to be a TA to get my paycheck.... so, it's not ass-kissing, it's exactly the opposite... people who get lucky are on fellowships and don't have to waste their time with TA-ing.
