For Those About to Rock…
Today, I had to politely request that my floormate not blast heavy metal music at 4 a.m. His response? "It’s the weekend," followed by him slamming the door in my face and turning the music up. I work weekends. FML

Last call, bad decisions and 3 a.m. texts you'll regret until noon. Cheers.
Today, I have a cold, and was stuck sleeping in bed. My roommate decided to wake me up by sticking headphones in my ears and playing heavy metal on full volume. This is the third time this week. FML
Today, I'm exhausted. My neighbours across the street had an argument about loud metal music. After a threat of, "Turn the heavy metal off or I’ll burn your house down," the music changed to Katy Perry’s "Firebird". For two hours. FML
Today, I had to study for an important test but I could barely focus because my roommate had his music blasting at full volume. Since we get along well, I decided to put up with it. I just found out he forgot to turn it off and left over 6 hours ago. FML
Today, I was doing homework in the living room when my mom came in and started blasting music and cleaning. When I asked if she could turn it off so I could study, she bitched at me about "My house, my rules." She also has a rule that we can’t do homework in our rooms because of too many distractions. FML
Today, I regret asking my neighbor to turn down his music last night. When I left for work, I found his car parked so close to mine that I couldn't squeeze between them. His wife's was parked the same way on the other side. They wouldn't answer their door and I ended up being late to work. FML
Today, it's the third day in a row my roommate has woken me up with blasting music, after keeping me up late listening to him screaming into his Xbox headset. His kids ate the last of my food. I can't even take a shit without one of them barging in. His whole fucking family is a walking condom commercial. FML
Today, I have to wear earplugs in my own apartment because my neighbor won't turn down his music. My landlord doesn't believe me because "people with disabilities can't be rude." FML
Today, it's the second week into my new neighbors' routine. He works nights, she works days. He likes to blast out Slayer and Napalm Death all day, she likes to drunkenly sing out of tune to Adele all night. I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown. FML
Today, I finally had some alone time to relax and watch a movie. As soon as I pressed play, my neighbor started blasting their music so loud I could feel the bass in my chest. I tried calling the landlord, but they didn't answer. I ended up watching the movie with subtitles while listening to my neighbor's music. FML
Today, my neighbor yelled “Fuck you!” at me through his window. My crime? Closing my front door “too loud.” This man lets his children beat on the walls and slam doors but apparently I’m the problem. FML

Depends where your are, you can call the cops (record the loud music in case he turns it off and denies it before they arrive). Even if it is the weekend, loud music at 4 am is no excuse. R/legaladvice or r/prorevenge on reddit could be helpful too.

I'd record it and call the police. Here you have to turn music down after 11pm.

I think the only actual solution will eventually be to either kick out the roommate or to find a new place to live depending on who’s name is on the lease. Roommates are like siblings in some ways - You don’t want to escalate it to the police unless absolutely necessary because they are living with you and can make your life miserable if they want. I am a bit confused by “floor mate”. I was assuming it was a roommate situation - Sharing a common space with individual rooms to sleep in. If this is about separate apartments the situation is somewhat better, but you still have to be careful about involving the police as there will be no mystery about who called them and your neighbor knows where you live.

Apartment leases typically stipulate quiet hours. Check your lease. Even if there's no stipulation, you can call the police on them for disturbing the peace.
