Today, I told to my girlfriend of 5 years that I'm depressed about having no friends, no job and a difficult family life. I told her that she's the one constant that keeps me going. She decided this was a good time to break up with me to "find" herself, since I was being so mopey. FML
Today, I went to see my girlfriend to talk about my anxiety, because it's been a big issue. She broke up with me instead. FML
Today, my girlfriend's mom pulled me aside and started telling me about how her daughter was extremely depressed and suicidal before she met me, and how happy her family is because of me. I was planning on breaking up with her within the next week. FML
Today, my girlfriend's best friend was dumped, and was absolutely depressed. My girlfriend thought she'd show her sympathy by breaking up with me so they "could be single together." FML
Today, I admitted to my boyfriend of three years that I have been suffering from depression for a while now. He took it as a good time to dump me. FML
Today, my girlfriend broke up with me because "we don't communicate enough". She got her friend to tell me this for her. FML
Today, my psychologist broke up with me, professionally. It's alright though, she told me it's her, not me. FML
Today, my girlfriend decided that the best place to break up with me was during a movie about two couples breaking up. FML
Today, my girlfriend sent her new boyfriend over to my place to break up with me for her. FML
Today, I broke up with my girlfriend. She was ecstatic. Apparently, she'd been trying to figure out how to break up with me for the past four months. FML

I'm sorry... that's horrible. I'm in the same boat, I have battled depression for a very long time, and I never had insurance to get treated for it. a few months ago I started treatment and it is a bit better, we are still working on the dosages and such. definitely better though. it's important to have people who care for you in your life and she obviously was not the right person. keep strong, take everything one step at a time, and message me if you want to talk. good luck man, don't give up

Just dealing with depression takes a lot, that's why people who make it through are considered strong. You're constantly battling wanting to do nothing and feeling a hopelessness. For severe cases, it's a struggle to even feel like your life is worth living. THAT is why people say people with depression are strong. When just getting out of bed can feel impossible, or even just living, people who can still go on and beat it are strong.

I've always called it resilience rather than strength. From seeing my own experiences and other's there are times you feel weak and pathetic, but you just keep trudging onwards one minute at a time until things seem a bit easier, it feels more like being a cockroach than a lion!
