Today, I was at the park with my autistic son when I noticed a teenage girl imitating him by flapping her hands and walking on her toes. Fed up with children mocking my son, I went over and sternly lectured the girl's mother. Turns out, her daughter is autistic too and will be in my son's class. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Nice try, Patricia
Today, I had to deal with a lady who claimed her son was autistic to try and skip the queue. Even her son was saying he’s not autistic, and she was screaming in his face that yes he was. I happen to be genuinely autistic. Security threw her out, and I was jealous that I didn’t get to do it. FML
Stranger danger!
Today, I took my child to the park. Having been there an hour, another mum came up to me and we started talking. She then told me that one kid had been harassing her children, pointing to my child. When she asked which one was mine I pointed to a random kid. It was hers. FML
Cut it off
Today, I took my kids to the beach. My autistic son decided it was a good idea to pretend he was drowning. I tried to tell onlookers he was fine and not to worry. My son popped out of the water and laughed hysterically at them. FML
Put that in your pipe and smoke it
Today, I was shopping when I overheard a woman telling an employee that she was buying an iPad for her 5-year-old son. Annoyed, I turned around and ranted about how he should have more age appropriate toys. Then she explained that her son is autistic and will be using the iPad to communicate. FML
And then I go and spoil it all…
Today, I was ecstatic my autistic son went on a play date. It went wonderfully and my son was happier than he’s ever been. Sadly, the dad was such a damn creep he hit on me every time the kids were out of earshot. I don’t want my son to lose his only friend but the dad makes me so uncomfortable. FML
Today, my high school speech therapist introduced me to the other autistic kid in school without fully informing either of us. We got into a fist fight because we each thought the other guy was imitating us. FML
Today, my son's first impression of our new neighborhood was to be yelled at by the first kid he tried to introduce himself to, because my son was on the edge of their lawn. Half-an-hour later, I got a lecture at the corner store, because the clerk thinks vaccinations caused my son's autism. FML
Today, my 4-year-old daughter stood up to a bully in the mall. I was the one who was getting bullied. FML
Today, while out walking with my son in a stroller, a couple passed by and the girl smiled sweetly at him. It made me really happy, until we'd passed and I heard her say, "What? You're supposed to smile at babies, even if they look weird." FML
Today, a girl I'd been crushing on for a little while and I were talking about autism. Some of the last words she said were "I try to not find autistic people so fucking annoying, but I can't help it. But can you blame me?” I'm autistic. FML

I understand why you'd be mad.. A close family member of mine is autistic and it makes me very angry if people imitate him.

i'd do the exact same thing OP. you shouldn't feel about about defending your child. its what a mother ought to do and anyone here that has a child knows it

#39 you are a complete asshole. So no other person in the world is more important just because your brother died? I dont think your brother would want you to be such an ass to people specially with family members that have mental problems. I'm sorry for your lost. but damn do you know how much of an asshole you sound like who cares if you can play sports they never can play for their school. Yeah you get made fun of but you can defend your self he cant. how would you feel if you just saw people making fun of you and you could never do anything about it, I dont wish this usually but I hope that your kid has the same thing, just so you can get the full blast of how this parent feels, and how they sit there and seeing people mock on how he acts, if you went to school you can see how people picking. And he wasnt on a team with people making jokes or prants, these are people walking down the streets seeing a person like that and making fun of him. You keep thinking thinking that she is sheltering him? what the **** he suppose to do, take care of himself? you really need to smell the rosess get your head out your ass understand your brother is dead and that he would probably kick your ass if he could. That is just so ignorant for what you said. I could just lecture at you for days for how horrible you are, but i really dont want to waste anymore of my time on such an ignorant bastered like your self.

I love that you try to prove you're not immature by saying that you're on 3 of the popular best sports teams in your high school. Honestly, that made me laugh harder than anything I've read all day. The rest was great, too, but that really sealed it.

You ******* ASSHOLE. I understand where she is coming from. You can't say shit. You're a CHILD. You're from the age 14-18, am I correct? Most likely 15. You're a CHILD. And you don't have one of your own, do you? So you don't know what it's like to love something with every fiber of your being, to love someone unconditionally. To die for them without one thought of hesitation. No, you can say you do. But you don't. Not until you have a child or wife/husband. So shut up. Okay, I get your brother is dead. In which case, I am sorry. But she/he seems to accept the fact that his/her child isn't mentally right. She's had years to accept it. And for her/him to take up for her son, means she/he loves them very much. I too would get upset at kids making fun of my son. It's the fact that he doesn't know any better than what he is doing. He can't help it. And he could be a great kid, mentally challenged or not. It doesn't matter. And it's also the fact, I do believe the child could know he was being picked on. To at least an extent. Those type of children are very sensitive. And if someone was making fun of them to their face, then that's not right. It's not right in the first place and definitely not right to someone who isn't mentally stable. Also, who ******* CARES if you're on the football, lacrosse, or wrestling team? What? You're some big jock on ******* campus? No one cares. You're a jerk. And yeah, you get "made fun of" but in a fun way. In a JOKING way. They're your friends playing around with you. You're NOT getting "made fun of." I of all people should know. So SHUT THE **** UP. And talk to me again when you've had a kid. I'd like to see what you're like if you have a kid who is mentally challenged. And how YOU'D react to such things. Hell, if you're really heartless, I wouldn't be surprised if you were the type of people who couldn't accept it. Who'd try and force their child to be something they can't be. I wouldn't be surprised at all. Blah. Just shut up, asshole.

I'm sure the mother completely understands. She's been through children making fun of her daughter, and would've had the same reaction I'm sure if it was the other way around.

WTF IS UR PROBLEM #81?!?!?!?!? YOU CANT CHOOSE IF YOUR KID IS MENTALLY CHALLENGED OR NOT!!!

Yes you are. You're very immature. And completely ignorant. Getting worse by the second.

That's why we need Obama death panels. To get rid of the 'unwanted' kids like this one.

Well that's new =S That's okay, I got called a hard nosed **** for standing up for a woman with autism. It could have gone much worse than it did. For example, the girl could have not been autistic and the mother could have supported the opinion that people with autism (or any other disability) are not human and deserve to be made fun of.

No one cares, you're still an asshole. If you had a child that was autistic, I doubt you would want other kids to make fun of them regardless if they have a disability or not. It hurts to be made fun of and no one should be made fun of. Even if they realize it or not.
