Today, I tried to make my mom feel better about me leaving for camp for 2 weeks by saying I wish she would come too. She took me seriously and called the camp and is now a camp counselor there. The only problem is I lied about going to the camp, and I'm really going to my boyfriend's lake house. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.

Big Brother is watching you
Today, my boyfriend came to visit from another state. My mom didn't want me to go to his hotel, but I did. When she asked about it, I lied to her and said I didn't go. She the showed me a picture of my car outside his hotel. FML
Today, I told my mom I was going out to hang out with some friends. She looked me dead in the eye and said, "Don't lie to me." FML
Today, I realized that I hate lying to my mom about having a boyfriend. FML
Today, I told my mom I was going on a date tonight. She laughed and didn't believe me. When I tried to convince her it was real, she got mad and grounded me for lying. I had to cancel the date. FML
You idiot!
Today, I didn't want to hang out with my girlfriend so I could binge watch Pawn Stars instead. When she asked me why not, I lied not very convincingly and said my mom was sick and needed my help. She now thinks I'm cheating on her. FML
Today, I found out my mom pretended to be me and had AIM conversations with my boyfriend. FML
I don't wanna go
Today, I came home after spending the past two months at summer camp, just for my parents to excitedly announce that I'm going to be spending the next two weeks in Florida with my grandma. We have to leave in literally a couple hours. FML
Today, I was going to hang out with the girl I like, because she was leaving for the rest of the Summer. She had to cancel to go shopping with her grandma "all day." At 1 o'clock, she came online and told me how much fun she had with this guy I really don't like. She forgot that she lied to me. FML
Pile on
Today, I told my mother I was doing fine with my classes when I actually wasn't because her mother is dying, and I didn't want her to have more things to stress about. She found out and she's very hurt. I feel awful about it and I know lying wasn't the right thing to do, but in the moment I didn't want to cause her any more pain. FML
Thanks but no thanks
Today, I called my mom to see how she was doing. She quickly hijacked the conversation and said that she's signed me up for a dating site, because she feels bad that I can't find a decent man. I've been dating my boyfriend for seven months, and she's seen me with him multiple times. FML

Everyone making comments about the OP being 'omg too young if they're going to camp' my 20 year old friend went to camp a couple weeks ago. So did a bunch of her 19-23 year old friends. I don't see the OP actually saying she's a camper. Maybe she (now like her mother) is actually a counselor?

The age range isn't impossible...I went to an academic summer camp at 16, so lets say she has an 18 year-old boyfriend. He'd have to have rather lax parents but if they trust him (or don't keep close tabs on him, which at 18 seems likely), then this is plausible. I'm more suspicious of the mother so easily becoming a counselor, but if it's a more informal kind of thing than an organized, profit-oriented camp, a religious or Girl Scout camp, say, then even that is hardly unlikely.

If the OP is 19-23 years old I doubt she'd have to lie to her mom about going to camp...or for that matter, I doubt the mother would be so broken up about her 19-23 year old leaving for 2 weeks...and if OP's nickname is any indication of what has/is going to happen to her (being grounded), then I SERIOUSLY doubt OP is in this age range

I don't. Some peoples parents are super attached, and keep them really sheltered, yes, even in this day and age. It could happen

There must be a huge percentage of parents on this site. Considering you all sound like you think you're perfect and better than the OP and have never lied before. Honestly, how many of you never lied as a teenager, especially to spend time with a boyfriend or girlfriend? Also, older teenagers can and should be allowed to have sex. Clearly all the old parents are coming around to freak out and lecture on this one.

I am an "older teen" and teenagers should NOT be allowed to have sex so casually. Although by my standards, once you hit eighteen, or in some cases, once you move out of your mother's house, you are officially an adult. Before that time, you are obviously not capable of supporting yourself or having your own home; and have bigger issues to worry about than getting laid. Also, it is disrespectful to have sex in your parents' home. How would you feel if your niece or nephew had some fun in your kitchen?

Teenagers should'nt be allowed to have sex at that age. And the only reason why you wouldn't know is probably 'cause you're one, as well. The reason why parents don't wont their child (at that age) to have sex is because there are too many risks ! what if you get pregnant ? Oh, that's it, your 17 year old daughter is pregnant and she just wrecked her education. She's 17, has to support a child with no job and is still in school. Oh, and what about STD's, i'm guessing that it's pretty scary to have an infection and have to take treatment, from the risk of DEATH. ..and, some (not saying all) teenagers aren't mature enough to realize what good protection is and don't really care about the consequences. Do you understand why, now ?

Just because you couldn't get laid at the age doesn't mean you have to be bitter over it. Seriously.

#116: The way you're typing... If you're going to rant about people having kids because it might get in the way of their education, please sound educated. And, part of me hates to say it, but I know several teen moms that were able to finish high school, and have now started college. As long as they have a good support group there is no reason they can't make it. Am I saying everybody should get pregnant as young as possible? No. Absolutely not. But if it happens... It really isn't the end of the world anymore.

Both a YDI and a FYL. FYL for having a crazy over-attached parent. YDI for KNOWING you had a crazy, over-attached parent and STILL trying to pull this off.

If you are young enough to go to camp, or even to still harbor enough fear of your parents to lie about not going to camp... you shouldn't be spending such a long time alone with a boyfriend. I can just see the next FML: Today, I got knocked up. I told my mom that the bulge was from eating too much. She decided to turn the whole family into vegetarians. FML.
