Today, I took my girlfriend of nearly 2 years out to dinner so I could propose. When the waiter brought the check, I caused a bit of a scene to get everyone's attention. When I got on my knee and proposed, she said no and asked if I could hurry up and pay, because she was embarrassed. FML

Why make a scene? Were you assuming she would say yes just because everyone was looking at her? I'd be embarrassed too, because that's just asking for trouble in my opinion and if she says no(which she did) then people make her out to be cruel and heartless.

In my humble opinion, no proposal should ever be rejected because everyone who proposes should be DAMNED SURE the answer will be "yes". If you aren't absolutely positive, don't do it.

A big YDI from me, causing a scene most likely required you to act like a asshole, I can only imagen her being super embarrassed about it and having any taste she should have dumped you on the spot before u got the chance to propose. But she probably just wanted to get away from there quickly to safe her the embarrassment of being seen with you, the asshole of the restaurant.... And thats when you think it would be a good moment to propose?? If you want attention next time make sure it is positive NOT negative.

Never make a scene!

YDI for doing something that was meant to be a special intimate moment for the two of you in such an obnoxiously public way. Honestly, if my husband had made a scene when he proposed we probably wouldn't be married.

Uh. Did you even discuss this with your girlfriend. What's with people having gfs for less thatn 5-10 years complaioning she doesn't want to commit to your ugly/cashed-up ass -.- (YDI)

It is a very bad idea to propose in a public place. If you want to stage a public proposal AFTER she already has accepted, go for it (like getting your sports team to acknowledge it or something). Proposal is for you and her. Your wedding is for the spectacle in front of everyone else.

id of farted on her and left

You could've also just said her name out loud

Perhaps you should have discussed it with her? I'm not sure about your relationship, but I'd prefer to talk about it with my partner rather than be caught off guard in front of a room full of strangers.

I'm sure everyone felt sympathy for u so just think ur not te bad guy :)

It does not sound like you took her feelings into account. Think how you would feel if put on the spot like that. Two years is not that long.
