Today, I proposed to my girlfriend in front of about 75 people in the fanciest restaurant in town. She told me she was already engaged, while holding up her right hand. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my ex-girlfriend proposed to me, at my wedding. FML
Please don't do this
Today, I took my girlfriend of five and a half years to family dinner at a restaurant. After we all had finished dessert, I got down on one knee, pulled out my great grandmother's ring and proposed. The entire restaurant was dead silent. She looked around and then slowly walked out. FML
Today, I was going to propose to my girlfriend of 3 years. I got reservations for a romantic dinner, and at the end, fireworks would spell out my proposal. The whole thing had taken weeks to plan out and had cost me a lot of money. She proposed to me at a subway station first. FML
Today, I gathered both mine and my girlfriend's families secretly to a restaurant. I paid the restaurant to play romantic music, and paid for the best table available. As soon as we finished our meal, our families gathered around and I proposed. She laughed and said no way. FML
Today, I proposed to my girlfriend in public. She happily said yes, and the surrounding crowd cheered for us. About 10 minutes later, after the excitement died down, she leaned over and quietly said, "Actually, I don't want to marry you. I only said yes so I wouldn't disappoint the crowd." FML
Today, I took my girlfriend of nearly 2 years out to dinner so I could propose. When the waiter brought the check, I caused a bit of a scene to get everyone's attention. When I got on my knee and proposed, she said no and asked if I could hurry up and pay, because she was embarrassed. FML
Today, I decided to pop the question to my beloved. Perfect lighting, fresh cut roses, a fancy dinner. The restaurant was in on it too. Shame they brought out the wedding-themed congratulations dessert before I actually went down on my knee. FML
Today, at a restaurant, I happily watched as my boyfriend of three years got down on his knees and proposed to me. Before I could say yes and hug him, a girl flung herself at him, kissed him and shouted, "Yes!" With us still highly confused, she then ran away. FML
Today, another man proposed to my girlfriend. She said yes. FML
Happy now?
Today, I proposed to my girlfriend while we were on my couch having a romantic moment. She seemed incredibly excited when she saw the ring and put it on. The way she bolted out the door tells me I'm not going to see her again. FML

Right hand? Engagement and wedding bands usually go on the left hand. Something tells me she just pulled this stunt to get out of a public proposal. Not that I blame her. Public proposals are tacky and they're often used as a way to unnecessarily pressure the recipient into saying 'yes'.

I would never propose publicly, it really puts the other person on the spot. plus I would never propose to anyone unless I was absolutely certain I was going to get a yes. ydi

If it’s any solace she revealed herself to be a cheater in front of 75 people so as much as it hurts at least she practically called herself out

It depends on the country. In some places the rings are worn on the right, not the left.

True, but that makes the op even more dumb!

That depends. In case OP is not american, he could be right, because here in Norway, engagement- and wedding rings are worn on the right hand...

I know a few lefties that wear their bands on the right hand because they find it uncomfortable to have the band rubbing against things they're working with. My dad is one of those people.

My husband proposed to me in public and I thought it was exciting....but I love surprises so I guess it depends on the person. It was at Top Golf and he got down on one knee just before I took my swing. Also it's on YouTube lol

I was ready to press YDI, until the closer. No one deserves a two-timing partner. But for future reference, do not propose publicly without discussing it beforehand. It’s more uncomfortable than it is romantic.

You’re a pretty dedicated side piece.

I think if I was proposed to publicly, and I did not want to accept, I would say yes to preserve the guy's ego but tell him "no" later, when no longer in public.

This is a public place. Sort of. So will you marry me?

Not sure which is worse. Most know surprise proposals infront of strangers don't go well. To say yes though only to say no? That's false hope and even worse than outright refusal.

Well, better that than saying "yes" and then keeping the ring. I hope you made her split the bill.

I put YDI just because you never propose publicly.

To start with proposing publicly is a horrible thing as it puts pressure on the other side to say yes even if they do not want to (although not in this case).

Shouldn't her "engagement ring" be on the left hand???
