Today, I started my new job as a supervisor. I began by cleaning out my new office, including recycling large sheets of cardboard left over from the new calendars. When the 2nd shift came in, however, they got very upset and yelled at me. Apparently, I had thrown away my Muslim workers' prayer mats. FML

Today, at my new job, a coworker offered to help me mop the floors since she wasn't busy. I ended up getting written up by my boss for supposedly being too lazy and making other people finish my work. FML
Today, was the first day of my new job. My boss admitted that they hadn't cleaned the employee bathroom for over two months. My first task: clean the employee bathroom. FML
Today, I walked into my new office for the first time after receiving the promotion I've been trying for. Someone took a dump on my desk. FML
Today, my boss fired me by locking me out of my workplace after I went out to throw out the trash. FML
Today, my boss called me into her office to tell me I needed to mind my own business and not question everything my newest co-worker does. Yesterday, I stopped the new girl from giving $6,000 to the wrong person. I was fired on the spot. The new girl was promoted into my job. FML
Today, it was my first day at my new job. Not only does everyone hate me for replacing a guy they all liked, I managed to clog the only functional toilet there. The glares and threatening head-shaking they keep doing probably means I'm screwed. FML
Today, I started my job as a high school janitor. A student decided to welcome me by taking a dump in the urinal. FML
Today, I finally started my first job. I also lost it, for being too "enthusiastic" and making my fellow employees look lazy. FML
Today, my supervisor told me to stock the bedding department, so I did all the pallets set out, with an hour to spare to clean up, only for my supervisor to bring out three more once she saw I was done. FML
Today, I started my new job as a janitor at a store. The first thing that happened when I came in was another employee telling me that there was vomit in the restroom, and that I had to clean it up. Not only did I clean up vomit, I had to clean up the poop that made the kid puke in the first place. FML

Your comment makes it sound like people should come to the job and just work and not read a book, eat, chat...etc. All these can be done during the break time which is probably when the muslim workers are performing their prayers. Nothing wrong with that.

wow that really sucks but it was an honest mistake imo. How would you have known? Good luck and look at it as an opportunity to make a new friend! Maybe buy him some new ones as an apology and go from there?

This is a sucky situation all around, but I have to admit I said YDI because you are in a superior position and should have taken the time and effort to learn about the team you would work with/ be in charge of, it's not like it's a secret that Muslims need to pray often at specific times. Plus I find it doubtful that it was just cardboard you threw away. If it was, I'm sorry and that's probably a pretty easy fix. It was a mistake but an avoidable mistake if you had been more one top of it.

A. We don't pray whenever we want to, there are 5 set times. Two of those are in the day. You get sins if you miss one B. Workers who smoke are allowed smoke breaks, prayer takes the same amount of time, so not allowing Muslim workers to pray is just general douchebaggery, not not allowing waste of time C. I cannot even begin to explain exactly how Islamophobic that statement was D. Did you vote for Trump by any chance?
