Today, I realized that in my relationship with my significant other, the roles are switched. We went out for a nice dinner, I paid, and when we got home he "had a headache" and asked for an aspirin so he could go to sleep. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Are you kidding me?
Today, my boyfriend was complaining about how we never see the movies he wants to see. So I took him to the movies, and he picked which one. Then he fell asleep. FML
Today, I took my girlfriend of a year out on a date, a nice fancy dinner and a movie. After dinner, I said that I was feeling sick and just wanted to go home. I didn't have the heart to tell her that dinner was so expensive that I didn't have money for the movie. FML
Today, I went to the movies with my crush, who had asked me out on a date. Assuming he'd pay, I left my money at home. When the time came to buy the tickets, he only bought one for himself. FML
A step too far
Today, one my friends died. All my crying gave me a headache, so I asked my boyfriend to bring me some aspirin. My headache didn't go away. Instead, I got diarrhea because my boyfriend gave me laxatives instead of aspirin as a "joke" to cheer me up. FML
Too much of a good thing
Today, I took my boyfriend out to dinner to an expensive restaurant. He overate, and now I have to nurse him through food poisoning. FML
Wrench in the works
Today, my boyfriend and I were on a date and he starts complaining about how his back is hurting him. He complains the whole evening. Fast forward to later that night, we are in bed so I ask him if he was feeling OK. He says, "I guess so. I'm just confused about my feelings for you." FML
Today, I took my boyfriend to meet my parents over dinner. During the meal, he excused himself to the bathroom, and when he didn't come back after a few minutes, I went to check up on him. I ended up finding him in the living room, pocketing a pack of ambien from my mom's bag. FML
Not a med student
Today, my roommate was complaining about a headache, so I offered her some aspirin. She looked at me like I was stupid and said, "Uh… That stuff's only for heart attacks." I'm living with an idiot. FML
Today, while cuddling with my boyfriend, he got up and said he needed to go home because he was tired and just wanted to relax and watch TV. That's what we were doing. FML
Date night
Today, I had a first date. We really hit it off and wound up watching movies together and talking late into the night. I ignored a developing migraine all night, then tried to leave hurriedly when it got bad. He stalled me leaving by asking what's wrong. I started vomiting. FML

Welcome to the 21st century where people are people and there are no "roles".

I agree that women face more discrimination in the professional world, but there are many areas men are discriminated against in. It's a trade-off, neither gender has it good all the time. Men are more likely to not get custody after a divorce. And single mothers get child support much more often than single fathers. And men are incarcerated much more than women for the same crime. And men are looked down upon if they make less money than their wives, but women are not. Men are also much more likely to be told they aren't a "real man" for stupid reasons. Even in the comments here he is said to be "not a real man". And also much of the stats showing women make less are misleading. I'm not saying it isn't true, but there are many other factors than discrimination. One of the biggest problems is no one talks about discrimination against men. Society acts as if it doesn't exist. I have taken gender studies, and sociology classes, and in both they stated that women are discriminated against, and used the example that women who have a lot of sex are *****, and guys who do are studs. Neither brought up that women who abstain from sex are pure, and men who obstain from sex are losers. Our society may discriminate against both genders in some way, but we pretend like it isn't an issue when it comes to men.

Everytime a man denies sex to a woman, heaven smiles.

So, indirectly, when heaven smiles a fairy dies?

It's good to hear that you don't care which of your parents makes more. And it is partially true that women have equal opportunities. They do legally, it's just that individuals tend to pay men more. Part of the issue is that women often choose lower paying professions. I'm taking computer science, and over 90% of the people in my computer science classes are male. But in my sociology class it's mostly female. Part of this could be that society doesn't see it as very womanly to take science classes. We need to drop these distinctions and I'm sure more women would go into the sciences, which are higher paying positions. As for individuals discriminating against women, I think this would partially solve that. If doing science isn't seen as a man's thing, you won't associate the idea with masculinity, and that would stop you from being biased towards assuming your male employees are more deserving of a raise. I know that I sometimes have trouble being unbiased. I assumed Asians were all smart, as that is how society portrays them. I think I would naturally assume my Asian employees were doing more than my non-Asian employees were I an employer. But in my first year of university I was working with an Asian on a physics assignment, and learned that Asian doesn't mean good at math or science in general. A lot of how a person judges others is based on their presentation. Your employee in a nice suit with neat hair will make a better impression on you than an employee in a cheap dirty suit with unkept hair. Without even realizing it you will assume the first employee is better. The same goes for being male and female. We as a society associate being intelligent and a hard worker with being male, so we assume males are more deserving of a raise than females without even realizing it.

You sure are stupid, 38. I expect you're one of those people who demand that men treat women equally and then also expect them to pay for your meals, hold the door, and never hit you back. You only deserve what you're willing to give, and from your comment I can tell you're pretty damn ignorant. Think about TV. How often are women placed in the role of the idiot in sitcoms? Almost never. I'm tired of people crying over "women belong in the kitchen" jokes and then turning around to make the generalization that men are all stupid, douchey sex addicts. I'll respect you when you respect me. Aim for equality, not to be the new superior. //rant

So I'm about to reply, agreeing with you, when I notice your username (I agreed with you before as well). I agree that OP probably thought that what happened was funny and posted it as an fml, and she probably didn't really have a complaint or think "f my life", but just noticed how her day was anti-stereotypical and thought it would be amusing to post. My problem is with the comments that act as if she needs to dump her boyfriend because of this, or that he is treating her badly, or that there is something wrong with what happened. There is nothing wrong with her paying for a meal, couples should take turns. And there is nothing wrong with him not wanting to have sex once in a while.

Ill rephrase the FML; Today, I had to put up with what guys put up with every day. FML.

Sex actually helps headaches go away. While aroused the body sends a hormone that's pleasurable and replaces the pain.
