Today, I proposed to the love of my life by having the waitress place the ring in her dessert. She ate the whole thing and didn't find the ring. I guess the waitress stole the ring. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Bad idea
Today, I took my girlfriend to a very nice restaurant. I thought it would be a good place to pop the question. I gave the ring to the waiter and asked him to put it on her dessert plate. When she saw it, she picked it up, put it down, and said "No". Then she started to eat her dessert. FML
Today, I went to a jeweler's to buy a ring to propose to my girlfriend. When I was at the restaurant, in mid-proposal, with people watching, I realized I had left the ring in the store. FML
Scarpered
Today, I asked the restaurant manager if he could arrange to deliver an engagement ring to me and my girlfriend with our desserts. Desserts came, no ring. That guy wasn’t the manager, just a guy in a suit who legged it with my ring. FML
Today, I was working my shift at the restaurant as a waiter when the girl I've been in love with for 4 years came in with her boyfriend. He asked me to hide the ring in their dessert. FML
Romcom trope
Today, a waiter fucked up by bringing a dessert with engagement ring to our table. My girlfriend started crying and saying, "Yes Yes Yes!" The look on her face when she had to take the ring off and give it back to the other woman… She’s now giving me the silent treatment, even though I did nothing wrong. FML
Today, I was going to propose to my girlfriend of 4 years. I took the whole day to cook a nice meal, and stuck the ring in a cookie that I was going to give to her. In the middle of the dinner I was holding the cookie under the table, about to give it to her. My dog ate it. FML
Today, I found out my boyfriend was going to propose. He'd bought me a beautiful white gold ring that I never got to see. His estranged mom stole the ring. FML
Today, I was out with my boyfriend, when he started browsing wedding rings. He found a ring, proposed to me right there in front of a crowd, and then was promptly denied a payment plan. We left without a ring. FML
Free ring!
Today, the waiter took the cake with the engagement ring to another table. By the time he'd figured out his mistake, the other couple had left, with the ring. I demanded the security footage, and the couple didn’t just get up and go, they full on snuck out, making sure no one saw them. FML
A night to remember
Today, I planned to propose to my girlfriend in front of her family at dinner. I had the ring ready and got down on one knee. She immediately burst into laughter and said, "Are you kidding?" The family stared in silence, and I quickly realised she was just teasing me... until I stood up and knocked over an entire table of drinks. FML

Or she swallowed it. Just wait a day or so to make sure. Toilet proposals are cute too.

What makes someone think they can get away with something like that? The restaurant she works for would obviously have all her info, it wouldn't be that hard for the police to track her down. Sorry op :( hope you get the ring back or at least had it insured.

So I realize the ring is gone but my question is, are you officially engaged Or did you asked her if she found the ring and she was like what ring and that's how she figured out this was a proposal dinner and then you guys were focused on trying to find it or whatever. I was just Curious as to how the evening ended

She probably swallowed it. Or if not, confront the waiter and tell the manager

I'm sorry bud, but this sort of proposal is entirely unoriginal and bland. You should at least be able to think of something more personal when it comes to the woman of your dreams. YDI.

Are you serious? First, just because YOU think the proposal is "entirely unoriginal and bland" doesn't mean that it's the same for the wife. Perhaps the couple met at an ice cream parlor, or had their first date over ice cream. Certainly that would make it personal, but here you are assuming that the guy put no effort into the proposal when you know absolutely nothing about their relationship. Really? Secondly, even if ice cream isn't special in their relationship, who are you to say how another person should propose? Who died and made YOU the sole determiner of what is original and exciting and what isn't? Your OPINION is that this proposal is unoriginal and bland, but maybe the wife would've liked it. Maybe the husband thought it was clever. Are you really going to sit back and say that they're wrong for liking it? If it makes them happy, then what's the problem?

Am i the only one who thought oh a different party at work here? The waitress doesnt handle the food preperation, only its order and delivery. So i'd assume the waitress could have handed the ring to the cook/chef who was making desserts that night and he/she could have pocketed it instead.

YDI for hiding the ring in food. Seriously what a stupid dumbshit thing to do. So many things can go wrong.

Probably swallowed it.

This is why people need to stop with this lame proposal method. A ring is to big to swallow she would have noticed it hit her teeth or it would be hard to swallow shed know. Next time just do a romantic dinner at home and propose to her out of the box, its sweet and simple. Ffs.
