Today, I ordered a Diet Coke with my meal from a fast food restaurant. Turns out, they didn't give me diet. My blood sugar spiked and I was sick for hours later. I'm a diabetic. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
First impressions
Today, while on a date, I accidentally ordered "diet water" instead of saying "diet coke". FML
This is fine
Today, while at work, I suddenly went into diabetic shock. As I was nearly passed out on the floor, a customer yelled at me for not getting his coffee in time. FML
Today, at lunch I ordered a Coke. The waiter replied, "Diet Coke?" and I corrected him saying, "No, regular Coke." He shook his head and said again, "Diet Coke." FML
Today, my waiter turned to me and asked, "Let me guess, Miss I'm-not-fat-I'm-fluffy wants a Diet Coke?" FML
Today, my boyfriend and I decided to stop by a drive-thru on the way to his place. I asked him to order a Coke for me, at which point he asked if I wanted to make it a Diet Coke. FML
Mismanaged
Today, my manager gave me hell for leaving the restaurant early yesterday. Guilty as charged, but only because I was rushed to the hospital after going into diabetic shock. This assmunch is convinced that I either faked it all to get off work early, or that I'd been eating our own stock. FML
Crash
Today, I was proud of myself for buying the lowest calorie option at a Subway that I could walk to. By the time I managed to get there my blood sugar severely crashed (it didn't help that two people in front of me were ordering subs for their family and coworkers). I ended up buying six cookies to stave off the crash. FML
Today, I took a test as part of a job requirement. I took a sip from a bottle of juice, and the lady leading the test gave me a warning. I tried to explain that if I didn't, I would faint. She took the bottle and hid it. 15 minutes later I collapsed. She thought I was faking. I'm hypoglycemic. FML
Guinea pig
Today, due to increasing frequency and severity of hypoglycemic symptoms, I went to the doctor. Apparently, the pill may have given me a rare form of temporary diabetes. She wants me to be a case study for the next 12 months. FML
Today, I went out to eat to celebrate getting over the stomach flu. I hadn't eaten solid food in over a week, so I was really excited and ordered my favorite dish. It gave me food poisoning. FML

I'm a type 1 diabetic and I can very easily taste the difference between diet and regular soda. ydi. shoulda tested your blood sugar a little after you ate and you would have avoided getting sick.

ydi for eating at mcdonalds when you know well enough what their food does to you, especially since you have diabetes

When did they say they went to McDonalds? There are plenty of other fast food places on the planet and as so many people have pointed out, fast food restaurants don't only serve one thing. They could have ordered a meal that consisted of a salad and something else.

Most fast food restaurants make you fill it yourself...the only one I can think of right now that doesn't is Chick Fil A

I suppose you live in France too, and know how all the French fast food places serve their drinks?? In Australia most fast food places don't let you fill it up yourself, so i wouldn't be surprised if it's like that in France too.

go there and threaten to sue them unless they give you free food for life

Too bad you didn't bite it, I find it disgusting that you probably ate yourself obese, then diabetic and still continue to gorge yourself on fast food. It probably wasn't the soda that pushed you into diabetic shock, it was probably the fact that it was your 7th meal of the day from McDonalds, fat slob. disgusting

i bet you are a douche. oh wait...

you're a loser. There are two types of diabetes. Type 1 is the type you get when you're a kid, usually you're born with it, and it has nothing to do with your weight or how you eat. It's like saying "YDI" to a person with Down's Syndrome or Multiple Sclerosis.

How incredibly ignorant of you #87. My daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 6yrs old and she's always eaten healthily. Type 1 diabetes is genetic, Type 2 is caused by lifestyle choices.

don't worry, guys. #87 is probably some pathetic little guy who dropped out of school and actually works at McDonald's for a living. ironic? yes, very much so. what else explains the completely uneducated remark?
