Today, I have to take a midterm, which is worth a large part of my grade. All our teacher has taught us so far is how to roast s'mores over a Bunsen burner, and how to make gummy bears explode. Our test is on kinetics. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, since my finals are starting tomorrow, I made a joke about setting my math books on fire. I laughed. Friends laughed. Parents laughed. Guess what subject just managed to actually get in touch with my scented candles? FML
Today, we had a surprise test at school. I was totally unprepared for any of it, so I BSd the whole thing and turned it in. A few minutes later, our teacher said we were allowed to use our notes to finish the test. FML
Miseducation
Today, the final for a class I'm in is taught by a decrepit old man who apparently has a flunk-out reputation. He spent the entire previous class making a study guide for the final exam, emphasizing, "THIS is on the exam. Know THIS." I studied it hard. Absolutely none of it was on the exam. Everyone failed. FML
Today, my chemistry professor made us all leave our classroom mid-lab because the class was complaining of the smell, and he was worried that there was a gas leak from one of the Bunsen burners. There wasn't, but it's nice to know my "silent but deadly" smelled like it might actually kill. FML
Today, I was in my psychology class taking the hardest test ever. After I spent most of the period trying to fill in the few answers that I knew, I looked up to see everyone with their notebooks on their desks. It was an open-note test. FML
Today, a student set me on fire while I was lecturing my class about proper lab safety. FML
Today, I found out that my entire class, me included, has to rewrite the painfully difficult midterm we wrote last week. All this because the Professor left the exams strewn across her desk. The cleaners thought it was trash and disposed of them. FML
Today, I took a major test, worth half my grade, not realizing that there were questions on the back of the sheet. FML
Today, during science, my friend thought it would be funny to pour corrosive acids into the reaction test I was making. I had to explain to my parents why I have no eyebrows, but the worst part is that I only got a D. FML
Today, I had to sit through chemistry class watching the kid in front of me slowly peel off the scabs on his arms, examine them, and then eat them. For an hour. FML

So you're only worried about the issue now??? Why didn't you try to figure a way out of this mess before?!

Exactly! I had a teacher like that and I'd constantly make study groups with friends in order to learn what the teacher failed to teach. Physics is hard - it's not one of those subjects you can get a good grade by simply cramming.

Time to crack open that textbook and get reading. Or maybe you can usr your maf Internet skills amd get dome help that way. Don't lose hope, OP.

Pleonasm! How could you forget that the word "and" is superfluous! Your name basically screams it! It should be "That's education in America for you." On a side note: Stop stereotyping America. Not everyone is fat. Not everyone is a moron. Get a grip on reality.

A lot of schools have free tutors, grab your book and go. Or you can try teaching yourself with your textbook and when you dont understand something, find another physics teacher and explain your situation. I'm sure you can even find a lesson on youtube. If you really want to learn, there's no excuse. It sucks that we have to jump through hurdles because of shitty teachers, but we just have to get over it. Good luck.

Who the **** cares about advanced kinetics? How will that bullshit help you later in life? But blowing up gummy bears and making s'mores, THAT will get you chicks!

well now you can use your science skills to bribe your teachers with delicious s‘mores ;)

If you're in college, then it is your responsibility to read the textbook and know the required information. You can also go to his office hours.

I don't really understand this mentality. If it's true that in college you're supposed to learn solely through textbooks, then what's the point of paying thousands of dollars per semester? I could read textbooks at home without paying crazy amounts of money. Yes, you have to read the textbook in order to understand the material completely, but what's the point of a teacher who doesn't teach?

I really don't think OP is in college. A college chemistry class would never allow students to eat smores in the laboratory.

A highschool chemistry class wouldn't either, at least from what I've experienced. I think OP s teacher just really needs to be fired.

That's not really true, since my high school chemistry class was held in a regular classroom. People ate in there.

wow...Though the gummy bear explosion is really cool, if you get a bad grade on this, you should consider complaining about this teacher. They clearly aren't covering the course topics like they should be. Cram like hell, and good luck!

Although you'd be surprised the quantity of stuff teens are certain they've never been taught. Could be the ol' hormones shift the attention somewhere far more pleasurable and only let the focus back to class occasionally - like when there is food or an explosion.

Sometimes you get stuck with teachers like that and the only solution is to grab a textbook and memorise everything...good luck...
