Today, we had a surprise test at school. I was totally unprepared for any of it, so I BSd the whole thing and turned it in. A few minutes later, our teacher said we were allowed to use our notes to finish the test. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Surprising
Today, I had a surprise test for Economics. While taking the test, I put my head down so I could think. A while later, I awoke to the whole class turning in their test. I had to turn in my test incomplete. No questions answered, just my name, the date, and a pool of drool. FML
Today, I took a major test, worth half my grade, not realizing that there were questions on the back of the sheet. FML
Today, I was in my psychology class taking the hardest test ever. After I spent most of the period trying to fill in the few answers that I knew, I looked up to see everyone with their notebooks on their desks. It was an open-note test. FML
Today, I got my results on a recent, important midterm. During the exam, I'd noticed my instructor had accidentally left an answers page in the test packet, so being honest, I didn't look at them. It turns out she did it on purpose to help us pass. I failed. FML
Today, I attempted to cheat on a test by writing some notes on my hand. During the test I had a question. I raised my hand. FML
Unfair failing
Today, while I was taking a test in class, there was a question that had everyone stumped. After what seemed like forever, the teacher finally noticed and said he'd typed the question wrong. I spent more than half the time I had to complete the test on a question that wasn't even written correctly. Yes, I failed. FML
Classic rookie mistake
Today, I was taking a test and thought I was doing great until I realized I was writing all my answers on the question paper, not the answer sheet. By the time I noticed, there were only five minutes left. FML
Not fair
Today, I took a test. I got up to turn it in, and accidentally bumped into another student. We both whispered, "Sorry." Our teacher promptly gave us detention and a 0% on the test for talking. Sorry for being sorry? FML
Today, I had a Chinese test. Our teacher decided to wait until yesterday to tell us about it because she "knew" we wouldn't study anyway and she didn't want to stress us out. I'm pretty sure I failed. FML
Hard test
Today, I went in to take my College Placement tests. I'd spent all week ignoring actual homework to study for these tests. When I got there, the responsible told me that the tests were last week. FML

sounds like a waste of time. why would you sit there if you didn't know anything else?
kingdomgirl94 29
To see if any more bullshit comes to mind of course!
tantanpanda 26
Because you have to sit there anyway. This seems like high school because universities don't have surprise tests. If you're forced to be there anyway, why not use all the time you have to reason it out?
HeadlessSparrow 20
Universities may not have have a surprise test but they do have surprise quizzes!

OP could have used their notes

I pretty much used the same technique when I was in school myself #42. It's much better if you have a multiple choice or short answer type of test/quiz because if you just keep staring at it, you will inevitably start second guessing your answers. And once that happens, your score has a very high probability of going down the drain.

This sounds like high school, and most of the time teachers let you do other stuff once you're done.

At my school you can use your phone or you can read after you hand in a test.

If I don't know the material, I'll turn it in as soon as I'm done bs-ing it that way I have less time to second guess my gut.

Maybe she didn't want them to relay fully on there notes.

I remember teachers would do this all the time, all I did was check the answers I bs'd with my notes and finish. Giving out access to notes was a godsend that was always relied on.

They wanted to see their students squirm a little.

She saw OPs paper and realised her class knew **** all so let them use their notes. OP took one for the team - well done!

That sucks OP

Comment moderated for rule-breaking.
You really should have studied.. but you'd think that the teacher would tell you something like that before the test?
InfiniteSunshine 32
It says it was a surprise test, so they couldn't have really studied for it.
UnidentifiedFun 37
Shit yeah, my bad. Still, he should at least be somewhat familiar with the material of notes were taken...
trollcrusher 17
@27 I get what you're saying, and you're probably right; I'd bet that OP was at least familiar with the test material. But that isn't the same as being prepared at all, which was the wording that OP used. If I had a surprise test over the unit we're going over in differential calculus, I'd be familiar enough with the material to bullshit my way through to an extent, but I certainly wouldn't be prepared to earn a grade that was up to par with my potential performance. I know the gap between familiarity and preparedness can widen or narrow depending on the subject matter, but there is a distinction between experiencing something once, and studying and learning it in a thorough and concentrated fashion.

No, you chill. ^

I made an 80 on it, but if I had the notes I definitely would of made a 100. It's no big deal though! :)
krazy789 28
Did she not say it before the test or were you not listening?
XandWacky 23
Must've been during it
savanerz 9
She waited until the last 5 minutes of class to tell us so everyone could try their best before using the notes. It's okay though I still passed lol
kabza 13
hmm.. im struggling to find a reason why you didn't study for your surprise test.

Then you should have went up, gotten your test back, and used your notes.
smokecloud_ 37
I saw this one in moderation. They tried, but the teacher wouldn't let them.
BoxFullOfLazy 25
Then that teacher should be body slammed by the school's police officer.

Lmfao I agree.

You should have held on to it
