Today, I had an elaborate plan to ask this girl to Prom, and it was going to take a few minutes to set up. I asked my friend to distract her. He decided to distract her by asking her to Prom. She said "Yes". FML

Today, I asked a girl to prom by having 5 friends hold up signs saying "P-R-O-M-?" while I snuck up behind her. She said yes... to my friend holding the "?", who she thought was the one asking her. FML
Today, I asked a short girl to prom by making a "You must be this tall to say no" sign. She grabbed a chair, stood on it, and then said no. FML
Today, I asked my girlfriend to prom. Instead of saying yes, she broke up with me. FML
Today, after telling a friend I was contemplating asking a girl to prom, my friend took my phone, told me to have some balls, and texted the girl asking her to prom. She said no, because I asked her over text instead of in person. She refuses to believe I didn't send the text. FML
Today, I was going to ask this girl I love to homecoming. I set up a scavenger hunt, and my friend led her through it. At the end of the scavenger hunt I had a note that said, "Homecoming?" She said yes and hugged my friend. When I told her it was me who was asking, she laughed and said no. FML
Today, I rejected my crush's prom proposal because I didn't think he was being serious and wanted to prank me or something. Turns out he was serious but now he's going with another girl. FML
Today, I was going to propose to my girlfriend of 3 years. I got reservations for a romantic dinner, and at the end, fireworks would spell out my proposal. The whole thing had taken weeks to plan out and had cost me a lot of money. She proposed to me at a subway station first. FML
Today, I decided to ask my friend to the school dance, which is one where the girls ask the guys. I spent hours placing signs down his street so he would see them on his way home. As I was waiting in his driveway with balloons, I saw his car reverse and go in the opposite direction. FML
Today, at a restaurant, I happily watched as my boyfriend of three years got down on his knees and proposed to me. Before I could say yes and hug him, a girl flung herself at him, kissed him and shouted, "Yes!" With us still highly confused, she then ran away. FML
Today, I asked a girl what time she'd like me to pick her up for our date tonight. She didn't know what I was talking about. It seems like, after months of sweaty palms, nervous smiles, and awkward sentences, I only dreamed she said yes to going out. FML

a guy asked me to his prom, in a different state, through text message. i said yes. seriously, girls dont normally have more than maybe one or two guys ask them to prom if they're lucky, you should have just asked her cuz she probably would have said yes if you're not too much of a creeper.

and I also second part2 of what vox said "Believe it or not, sometimes just asking things like that, without going into elaborate schemes and plans, actually works! I recommend you try it sometime -- an overly elaborate plan is almost bound to fail."

Can anybody explain to me why, if the friend was already planning on asking the girl to the dance (which is more likely than not), he should have dropped everything because someone else told him he wanted to ask her? Why does he have to be the pushover?

#15.... you can't falcon punch someone in the face. then it's not a falcon punch. also, did you tell your friend "distract her so i can set this thing up to ask her to prom" or just "distract her for a minute"? because if he didn't know why he was distracting her......... i don't blame him.
