Today, I got a call from the head of my school dance committee saying that the dance was cancelled and the services originally hired were still expecting to be paid. The reason the dance got cancelled? One of the girls on the committee's parents wouldn't let her buy her dream dress. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Priorities
Today, I called off my wedding because I found out he was cheating, but my daughter is more upset that she spent $400 on a bridesmaid's gown and now can't get a refund. FML
Today, the girl who'd asked me to prom told me she assumed we weren't going together and is now going with her friends. After agreeing to go with her, I'd bought a $200 non-refundable suit along with the ticket. I have no one else to go with. FML
Dancing Queen
Today, after my dad told me to sign my daughter up for expensive dance lessons as a birthday present, and she was ecstatic and very dedicated, I asked him for the payment for this month. He replied, "Oh, she wanted more than one lesson?" Now she won’t stop crying and I have no way to pay. FML
Unilateral decision
Today, my husband enrolled our daughter for a dance event, even though I was against it. I told him before he enrolled that I couldn't take her to practice or the event in this cold, as I can't drive while he's driving our car. He went for a trip with his friends, so guess who's standing in the cold outside dance practice… FML
Fashion Police
Today, I called a company to see why the dress I’d ordered for my best friend hadn’t been delivered. After doing some digging and ruining the surprise, it turns out it had been. Her boyfriend opened the package, deemed the dress "too slutty" and threw it out. He refuses to pay me back. FML
Today, my girlfriend got paid by the richest guy in our school to go to the Winter Formal with him. She took up the offer. FML
Today, my maid of honor, who offered to take care of my wedding dress before the D-Day, left it near her open window during heavy rain. My dress is now ruined, and she's backed out due to stress. I'm supposed to be getting married tomorrow. FML
Today, I was told by one of my bridesmaids that she can't afford the travel costs to get to my wedding, after telling me that she didn't need me to organize alternate free travel for her. I'm getting married in less than two weeks. FML
Today, I was invited to a birthday dinner at a restaurant. As I was leaving, I get a text from the birthday girl's boyfriend saying that it was cancelled. Hungry, I decided to go to that particular restaurant anyway. Turns out the party wasn't cancelled. Half the party just didn't want me there. FML
Today, one of my teachers asked me to babysit their kids saturday night. She didn't forget that it was Prom night, she was going to chaperone it. My teacher assumed I wasn't invited to Prom... I wasn't. FML

Is there no adult advisor to tell this whiny girl that the show must go on even if she has to wear her second favorite dress?

Let her parents pay for the invoices then. I think you all worked hard to raise the money for this evening, so it's not fair.

Wow. That sucks, OP. Hopefully there will be more chances to have a dance.

Not really a valid reason to call the whole thing off.. Sorry OP!

That is an idiotic reason.

Wait...why should her parents pay? If anyone should have to pay, it's the bratty girl who cancels an entire dance because she can't have her way. Parents have the right to say no to buying things for their kids. It's time to grow up now.

I totally agree. its not the parents fault their whiny little brat of a daughter called off the dance because of a dress. and they have a right to decide what dress she can or can not get unless she pays for it herself.

Then they should make her pay for it. She can work it off, and learn that your little inconveniences can cost a lot of hard earned money.

I really dont understand this FML. I dont see how any adult, teacher, principal, etc, would allow the dance to be called off for that. No way an entire school dance would be left just to the students so where the hell is the adult to step in? Is OP the adult in charge of the bratty kids who decided to cancel it and expect the OP to pay out for what they already did? If thats the case OP needs to man up and tell the kids to get over themselves and the dance is not cancelled... if thats not it, Im truly confused.

Well I'm pretty sure that the they will have to have the show go on with or without that girl. Schools don't/can't pay for cancelled services. Adults needs to now take over the problem and get it sorted out. If they do pay for cancellation then you can kiss the program goodbye cause that's where they will cut 1st.

What a horrible girl.

Does one girl even have the power to do that? It seems unlikely to me that she would.
