Today, I found out that I have a gluten allergy. What this basically means is that I can't eat anything with wheat in it; bread, pasta, cake, you name it. I am Italian, this basically limits me from eating any of the awesome food my family makes almost every night. Here I come plain rice. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I found out I have celiac disease. I also happen to be a baker and will be constantly reminded of all the wheat products I can no longer enjoy. FML
Today, my husband and I found out that our daughter's chronic stomach aches are due to gluten intolerance, so we need to cut all wheat out of our diet. We're bakers. FML
Today, I had a lovely gluten-free pizza out at a local restaurant. After I'd finished, they informed me it wasn't in fact gluten-free. I am Celiac and this means I will be ill for the next six weeks. FML
How could you do this to me?
Today, I learned I'm not allergic to gluten. My mom has kept me on a gluten-free diet since I was 5. She was convinced I was allergic to it. I'm 25 and I am writing this over my first slice of pizza in 20 years. FML
No fun
Today, I got back the results of an allergy test I decided to get because I felt generally tired after meals. Turns out that I'm allergic to, among other things, meat (yep, is a thing), nuts (of course), milk, egg, rice, carrot, apple, yeast (as in bread), and even soy. Seems I'm allergic to… food. FML
Today, my two favorite things in the world are Pizza and Beer... I now discover I have Celiac and can't have either. FML
Seek help?
Today, everything I eat makes me sick, so I don't know what to eat anymore now. My BMI is low and I'm absolutely starving. I can't even eat rice. FML
Just to be on the safe side
Today, we live in a tiny trailer. My doctor said I have celiac disease. My dad, who takes things too literally, came back with gluten-free dog food. I don’t even have a dog. FML
Today, I had a food allergy test done because of an ugly acne upswing, and after over a year of vegetarianism, I find out that I'm allergic to soy. FML
Logical
Today, I'm quite ill. My new step-mother believes that the genetic wheat allergy I got from my mother would have gone away since she's now married to my father instead. Looks like dad picked a winner. FML

There are gluten free flours out there -not at good as the real thing but still work-able. it's awful at first but eventually you learn to adapt and barely even notice the difference.

my sister has celiacs and even though it seems pretty devastating know, more and more companies are taking it into account and are coming out with tons of gluten free food.

Get over it. I'm allergic to gluten, soy, eggs, dairy, peanut, and whey.

that's ridiculous my sister can't eat sugar, wheat, or dairy and she gets along fine there are endless amounts of alternative flours to use and you are by no means confined to rice all you have to do is look

(For the other commentors: Celiac disease is not the same as a gluten allergy. They are two very different reactions in the body.) My Italian fiancee has Celiac disease and, like you, cannot eat wheat pastas. One thing that has made her feel much better about it are the Tinkyada pastas that are made with brown rice flour (they are gluten free). They make an excellent substitute :)

It sucks but you don't have to have plain food. My Mum has it, there's a chance I have it as well. You just have to find things that you can eat. Try to work with fresh ingredients when it comes to making sauces or salads for things and it'll likely have no wheat in.
