Today, I found out I make less money than the temps at my job by over 2 dollars an hour. I've been working there the longest and do 75% of the job myself. I was told, "We'll think about it" when talking to upper management about getting equal pay or close to. FML
Today, after 3 years at my job I received a 14% raise. I was informed I will be transitioned from hourly to salary. I will now be making $1500 LESS than I made last year. FML
Today, I was forced into accepting a "promotion" for a position that pays less than what I get right now. FML
Today, I got a new title at work. My boss hyped it up and made it sound amazing, so I accepted. Come to find out it pays 20k less a year and is twice as much work. FML
Today, I found out that the engineers I work with believe that a woman with an engineering degree working in an engineering company is apparently equivalent to a "secretary for engineers." I am that woman. FML
Today, I found out that, because I'm a student, the employees I train make more than me. FML
Today, after working at the same place for 3 years, I found out that they are not only cutting my hours but now I have to take orders from some girl I trained because she was promoted over me. FML
Today, I found out my daughter has a higher paid job in the same company I work in. I also found out she is dating my boss. FML
Today, despite having made it clear that I'm neither interested, nor I am able to take over the jobs of the 3 members of staff who have recently left, my boss made a "Progress Plan" for me and will check on it weekly. I'm getting paid 1.5 times less than average in my role and he's not giving me a raise because the company is stingy. FML
Today, the person recently hired to work in my spot during my days off started at a higher hourly rate than me, after I have been here for nearly three years. I asked for a raise and got a dollar more; meanwhile, my regional counterparts make 4 dollars more per hour. FML

It's not much different in the U.S. either. *sigh* OP: Do make absolutely certain that the pay discrepancy is solely because you don't have a penis, and bring it to HR's attention. If that doesn't resolve things, maybe look for a better job.

Most likely false. If this is true and you didn't just copy the statistic (Thank you #3) if you accept any kind of extras of bonus's, health care, anything like that, it's reflected in your pay. Not to mention tax. I really hope you're not stupid enough to calculate after tax.

there is a slight scale. you get paid differrntly at 16 and 21 and 25 (depending on the job) none of those have a 15% difference.

Been there a few times myself. I preferred finding jobs that would treat me right. Too many lawsuits. While I'm not familiar with the laws there, the companies usually have loopholes to justify it. All during does is make for a hostile work environment.

in the UK you are legally bound to pay people the same if they do the same job although many companies seem to be getting away with all sorts of things now. OP should check with other females in her job to see if they are paid the same. if all females are paid the same and all males are paid the sane her case will be easier to prove.
