Today, I finally got the nerve to tell my parents that I'm no longer going to pay them a flat percent of my salary, but only what they need to cover my expenses. Their response: "Better find a place of your own then, you freeloading bastard." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I finally told my dad that he owes me over 400 dollars, and that I need it or else I'd get kicked out of my apartment. He only gave me 70 and said to get a better job. FML
Burden
Today, after a fight with my parents, I told them I was running away. They said, "Good. Now we have less to pay in child support." FML
Today, after telling my parents just exactly what I thought of them and that I was moving out, the person I was supposed to move in with called to say they'd decided they would rather live alone. FML
Today, I talked to my husband about leaving his parents' house. He said, and I quote, ''No. I don't want the responsibility of paying bills.'' FML
Sharing is caring
Today, I got a 15% pay raise. My parents responded by saying, “Congratulations! You can now forget about online shopping packages coming in on a weekly basis and start chipping in for rent and utilities!” FML
Today, I finally summoned the courage to ask my dad to pay me as he promised, after I cut the lawn and cleaned all the house windows last week. His response was, "Get fucked." FML
Make your minds up
Today, I was offered a job that pays far more than I expected, being a high school senior. My parents decided they aren't letting me take the job, saying I should enjoy my childhood. They're also not paying for my college, which is why I was looking for work in the first place. FML
Today, my parents decided to finally kick me out of the house because they've gotten tired of seeing me "sleep around all day and being so lazy" whenever I'm home. I'm currently triple-shifting for 6 days a week. FML
It's all about control
Today, my parents said they were cutting me off for saving a kitten's life and wanting to keep it. I am 40 years-old and don't get any money from them. FML
Today, I found out that my parents are 28,000 dollars in debt and that my bank account has $27.17 in it. They took my money to help pay their debt. FML

You people who are saying the OP deserved it are pathetic. You don't know how old OP is or how much they make. The whole point of the FML is that their parents are making money off of them, which really isn't fair, especially if they can't afford to move out yet. If parents want to charge their of age child to live with them, that makes sense, but they shouldn't have to pay for all of their expenses plus extra. Just because most of you people apparently got jobs when the economy and job market was better doesn't mean you should get all high and mighty. Nowadays, it's hard to find a good job even if you have a University degree. So all of you self-righteous assholes can shut up, this generation is trying just as hard as yours but with more obstacles.

Dude. Those are the people who raised you. It wouldn't kill you to help them out a little in return.

Ah... yeah of course they kicked you out. They have a right after you turn 18. They don't have to let you live with them anymore. So yeah of course they are going to kick you out for being selfish and entitled thinking you can love there without having to pay what they consider your "bills". No place will let you live there if you just up and decide to not pay the bills.

But OP was and still intended to pay their bills. It's just that OP's parents were demanding a certain percentage of OP's paycheck, which, I assume, was a lot higher than the actual bills OP had agreed to pay.

Why all the hate for the people who still live at home after the age of 20? If the child isn't leeching off their parents, if they love to be around their parents, and if their parents love having them around, why not? It's not a sign of weakness or anything, at least not in my book.

That makes sense to me. Only pay what covers your expenses, your food, your water, your clothing etc. It doesn't make sense that you have to pay them (say 35%) of your pay check when you only use about (say 20%) of your pay check worth at home. If anything, your parents should be helping you to save money.

I think it's fair. Why give a percentage of his salary? He should only pay for what he uses. Give his parents money for the water he uses, part of light and heat. I'd rather pay 500$ for what I actually use over $800 because my parents demand extra for themselves when they don't even need that much. It just sounds like they're trying to steal from their kid

that's when you take their advice and move out. I pay a standard rate for rent at my house and my family would never expect me to give away as an example half my pay check. you'll probably do better on your own. mind you ive no idea the living expenses where you live but if they expect you to pay a percentage of your salary that's going way too far in terms of paying for living expenses.
